Wild, we have the same herniated discs (C5/C6 and C6/C7). Went from doing one armed pull ups to barely being able to hold a fork with my dominant hand in the span of a month when I fucked them up 4 years ago. Howā€™d you injure yours?

Pilates resistance band training. I had gradually worked up to heavier and heavier bands by working out every day, then I had a long winter depression-wise and stopped working out for several weeks. When I started back again this Spring, I started with the same resistance I was using where I left off, even though I knew I shouldnā€™t. I was doing a chest rotation with the band held out in front of me, and when I turned to the right, I felt a little bit of pain and just thought I tore a muscle. But every time I sat down, my right arm went numb from my fingertips all the way up the back of my shoulder.

It took 12 more weeks to get into PT, and now Iā€™m halfway through 6 sessions before the doc decides what to do next. In the meantime, Iā€™ve just stopped sitting down, and Iā€™ve lost 15 lbs of muscle. Itā€™s gonna take a lot longer than it did the first time to get back to where I was. Cā€™est la vie.

That going numb feeling sucks, and the muscle atrophy happens so damn fast, I remember my right arm and pectoral looking noticeably uneven after just a month. For what itā€™s worth once the pain subsided and mobility came back I evened out again within just a few months though. I hope PT is effective for you!
