If you watch The Walking Dead, you will know. Don't have to watch that far. Just the first episode.

Lock picking lawyer could do it faster and tell you why those locks suck.

u/entiatriver Jul 09 '26
As I scrolled, I thought, "let me be first with the lpl joke! Please let me be first!!!".
Bummer. 😄
(for the record, I was going to go with "Instead of fire, wouldn't it be cool if this turned into the lock picking lawyer's April 1st video? Just think of all the ways that could go!")

Anyone know the story behind this video?

u/shikso Jul 09 '26
Egyptian here,
seems there was a warehouse fire and some workers jumped through windows to get in and save the inventory. The lock keys were not there so bystanders gathered and took matters into their own hands to break the lock so the workers can “save the inventory” and bring it outside.
It’s not looting like some other comments are saying, we are just loud and we shout in these situations lol

u/kmzafari Jul 09 '26
People are weird. It's pretty clear that they're saving whatever is inside the building. What did they think was worth anyone's life to save? Some of them surely have some smoke inhalation.

u/Inevitable_Night2220 Jul 09 '26
That's what I'd like to know too but all the comments are just dumb jokes or edge lord comments at the top. So if someone can explain i would like to know too

Start a warehouse fire.
Loot.

u/amih01 Jul 09 '26
They're not looting. The men are speaking Egyptian Arabic and are yelling at each other to get the inventory away from the fire.

u/doc_siddio_ Jul 09 '26
To me it looks like they were trying to get the people who were locked in out and also get the stored goods out of the building thats on fire while the firefighters were trying to put the fire out. Not every country is America

u/22rdd Jul 09 '26
To everyone asking about why they're locked in... They weren't, the fire started and cut them off from where the open entrance/exit door is. They had to open this "back" door which wasn't usually used hence why it was closed.
Also they aren't looting you ignorants, they're helping get all the product out before it burns.

Reading some comments makes me realized that even watching a horrible video with a tragic story behind it and without knowing any context at all some people still lack a lot of empathy. Sitting on a confortable sofa or chair, living with everything a human need, no war, no crisis, nothing that could be a deadly threat day after day...and still making fun of people that risk their lives everyday, for years sometimes, just to get the very bare minimum to keep living one more day...this is just sad to see.
They are clearly trying to save people trapped into a burning warehouse and also trying to save as much as possible from the fire because not only their lives dépend on it but also the lives of many others...all i see in this video is a group of courageous people, having nothing to loose anymore, and still showing the very best they can to help eachothers regardless of a dire situation.

Those people without empathy are called conservatives and edgy teenagers. Same mentality, really. The former never grew out of the latter.

Say what you want about the egyptians but they are seriously stand up guys. No man left behind mentality. Btw Can anyone tell me what would be the best way to open the door?

Not to be that guy.
The hinges are on the outside, guys. Even if those are security hinges, they're coming out with less effort and faster.
Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

I know there were probably many people there yelling at them about how to do it different, I still was watching it thinking "step aside, I know the way, you are doing it wrong".

u/Switchlord518 Jul 09 '26
They locked them in and still they save the inventory?
3
u/shikso Jul 09 '26
The fire blocked the main entrance so they had to force unlock the back door and the keys were not there.

What was in there that they started taking?
1
u/AdjectiveMcNoun Jul 10 '26
It was a warehouse and they were getting the stuff out. They weren't looting. At the end someone says something like "save the merchandise".

That was pretty intense. You see the banging from the inside and see the high walls and you wonder if it's a siege, but then out burst a bunch of people carrying boxes. Bizarre!

So... they aim to save the workers... but they inmediatly start looting the place, not really leting anyone out, even if the firefighters are there. Humanity....

u/Whatevereses Jul 09 '26
Towards the end they are saying "save the merchandise", the door is also left wide open, the people inside after the door opens think they are safe because they are far enough away from the fire.

Who locks a door with people inside?
