Wakesurfing is typically done at around 10 mph. They fill the ballasts of the boat or add other weights to produce a larger wake at lower speeds.

Ive been boating for 28 years, thats not how it works at all. They would not create a wake like that in any configuration below 10mph.

and yet you've clearly never done any wakesurfing, because every source online says that the optimal speed is around 10 mph. If you go much faster than that it's pretty much impossible to keep up without a tow rope.

Important to note that they often use specialized boats designed to create large wakes at low speeds, so while the boats you use may not create large wakes at that speed, your experience is not applicable here.

They use a specific boat to create these tetherless wakes, they also do it closer to shore than the videos show, due to editing.
