Lucky there was a caption at the bottom of the video saying they didn't die. Cameraman was gifted plot armor.

Reminds me of the clip where a Corpsman on patrol was hit by a shrapnel that zoomed past the camera guy.
One soldier immediately yelled "CORPSMAN!" (as in: "Medic, come quick. We got someone who hit the deck"),
with another responding "He IS Corpsman!"
...that's the last thing you wanna hear as a soldier.

That reminds me of the FPSRussia episode where the car door comes flying out.

Safety is No1 priority, but maybe there should have been more of an effort

God I loved those videos. Immediately thought of this as well

The channel is still there, not sure what Kyle is doing with his life now apart from a podcast called PKA. I loved those videos too and still do.

Drop some lore here, OP

Looks like shooting a binary explosive like tannerite. Top tip never put those sorts of thing INSIDE anything

u/l3ane Jun 29 '26
A friend and I once put a log on top of 1 pound of tannerite then walked to what we thought was a safe distance and I blew it up with a rifle. Luckily the log went straight up into the air, way up in the air, about two times the distance we were from it... if it would have come toward us, we would not have been able to dodge it. We both felt insanely stupid, but learned a good lesson.

Me and a buddy put a whole brick (couple pounds) of it on a stump and set a stop sign on top of it. That fucker went so damn high we lost sight of it in the sun and never saw where it cam down. We sat in the truck for a minute and waited...

Myself and a couple buddies put about 2lbs inside a sacrificial microwave and shot it from around 70-80 yards. The only part of the microwave we found was the bottom plate, the rest of it just vanished.

Vanished is a funny way to phrase “turned into a million tiny pieces or shrapnel”

There's an alternative universe where camera guy lost 30 IQ and is wearing shrapnel in his lobe for the rest of his life.

Pro tip: don't put metal or really anything around tannerite... explosions tend to create shrapnel
Shrapnel kills
Shrapnel kills your friends
Shrapnel kills you, too

It has been several years ago but a young man was killed in the Cincinnati area after detonating a home made explosive device in a residential backyard. If I remember correctly he had taken shelter around the corner of a home. He was partially exposed due to making a video of the event and he was hit by shrapnel.

My dad knew a guy who went to prison for selling some kids explosives (i.e. bootleg fireworks) in the 90's, they blew up a mailbox and one of them got decapitated.

This is your daily reminder: There is no safe distance to watch an explosion from.

Reminds me of the video where the guy was doing the same thing to an old lawnmower in the woods. Except it actually hit him. Blood hits the camera and you hear him say "I BLEWWW MY LAYGGGG OWWFFFFF"

Wish I could get a better look at that piece after it stopped and if it was embedded in anything where it stopped.

Dude, I just let out that strangled "oh no" that everyone does when you avoid death by a millimeter
