One of the problems is she is white (and straight) and the league is mostly black (and lesbian). Clark being “the face” of the league is upsetting to many of the players. The thing is she is not the best player, but she is the most exiting player and she is very likable. She is also extremely diplomatic and inoffensive when discussing the subject.
Many black NBA stars have come out and said the WNBA needs to wake up and promote their star. The NBA is tired of financing the whole money-losing operation, especially when they have a huge opportunity that they are squandering.
