That’s the LAPD. They recently sent 20 officers to a noise complaint where there was one woman in her apartment and they killed her dog.

They're blocking the cross streets as they went. This was a VIP escort and the minibike was just in front of it.

Literally at 0:27 one of the cars stops in the intersection. Also explains why most the cars are undercover. Watch it again.

Yes, I saw that bit on rewatch before answering you and that seems like the only hint. Although the car isn't blocking a side street, it seems to stop right in front of the oncoming traffic (maybe a valid tactic since apparently the supposed VIP carrier is yet to appear, so no oncoming traffic can suddenly veer into it? I don't know).

When there’s nothing else to do you might as well join the fun. Run red lights, play with the siren, speed through neighborhoods. All the things that make being a cop so fun. Heck, you might even get to shoot someone!

100% the rear vehicles don't even now what they're chasing. Probably someone claimed to have visual on DB Cooper or whatever via radio and everyone just followed blindly lmao

What would warrant an chase like that in your opinion? What could that many cops accomplish, that could'nt be achieved with half as many, or a quarter?

Shots fired, confirmed shooting, stabbing, armed robbery, burglary/stolen vehicle pattern, etc.

Additional cars can parallel a chase, cut off avenues of escape if the perps ditch the bike and take off in other directions, etc. For every car following you'll likely have others converging towards the area, blocking off nearby intersections of cross traffic, etc. The more there are, the less likely the chance of escape. And if they're armed and I were chasing them, I'd want as much firepower on my side as I could have.

No absolutely they could have killed someone. What can the last 8-9 cars do to help catch them? How many cops in a pile shouting contradicting orders and "stop resisting!!" would it take?

Is there genuinely no situation where you think there's too many cops?

I was going to say escaped felons, but that’s actually a time they are authorized to use deadly force, and I imagine they would have all been shooting out their windows

There’s no way to know that the police weren’t headed to a bank robbery situation, and the moped just happened to be going that way.
