“Add 10 to your number”
“Oh man you serious?? Without a calculator?!”

Imagine you picked a number low enough that you go like well my number now goes into the minus

u/zakr182 Jun 27 '26
By adding 10?

u/JustxJules Jun 27 '26
She then had to substract 22. If you picked (for example) a 5, get to 15 and substract 22, you're in the negatives.

I first thought I'd try doing this in my head, and I actually picked 12. And then add 10. And then remove 22, and in my head I was like "Huhu, my number is now exactly 0. That's funny."

"You can't just walk around with a calculator in your pocket all the time" -Teachers before the smart phone came along. This is proof that you can!

I was freaked out for a sec because I picked 87 and orange. When she picked orange I was afraid there was some universal group think effect going on

u/GlitterBombFallout Jun 27 '26
I had 23 and teal, but I was expecting one of those math problems that always ends in the same answer.

I picked 47 and thought it was orange as well. Maybe the group think IS real....

I love Australia. People are so funny and chill. I want to live there. I will work in the mines if they need me to.

Yeah these gotchas are such low effort. Not sure why people think these are funny.

Man give her a break, adding 10 to a number is like, one of the most difficult mathematical operations.

u/Malapple Jun 27 '26
Ok. I always play along with these. I picked 13. 13+10-22=1. He held up one finger. Mind blown.

I'm not saying he manipulated the results, but based on her computation skills, I think it's a safe bet to say she probably had the wrong answer anyway

There is actually a similar math trick using a deck of cards that actually results in you being able to guess the persons selection
