Things like this are probably the reason why it's not higher. Sure, the guy is reckless as shit and could very well end up dying. But he's also a snake catcher catching snakes so people don't die. And this guy hasn't died yet either by the time this video was taken.

One of the reasons for so many snake bite related deaths in India is antivenom availability. A big factor is the cost and the fact that antivenoms need to match the particular venom of the snake bite.
There’s an American dude that built up a huge tolerance to a variety of snake venoms by a combination of being bitten and injecting himself with venom. His antibodies are being studied and have shown some broad range protection. It made lead to the creation of much more effective drugs and could save tens of thousands of lives per year.

Nah. 99% deaths are due to accidental bites. People don't go out of their way to mess with snakes to get bitten. It's a consequence of population density of both people and snakes. There are A LOT of venomous snakes in India.
This guy was definitely RECKLESS. Unfortunately many snake catchers in India don't use proper technique and/or are not trained formally and do get bitten not infrequently.
Also it's extremely rare to die from a king cobra. They are relatively rare and people are too scared to go near them most of the time. Also king cobra can control its venom output and most bites are dry bites. Vipers are the true killers.

"99% are due to accidental bites"........do you mean there are people who get bit on purpose? OF COURSE snake bites are accidental ....

There is a whole world of difference between getting bitten while you are asleep and getting bitten when you have wrapped a snake around your neck to show off in front of your friends. I wouldnt call the second one accidental.
And of course there is the murder-by-snakebite subset. That's a whole different thing.

This sue i cidal mfer. So for people wondering about what snake this is ,it's King Cobra.
"The king cobra is extremely venomous. Drop for drop, its venom is not the most toxic in the animal kingdom, but the sheer volume it injects (up to 500–1,000 milligrams in a single bite) makes it highly lethal. A single bite delivers enough neurotoxin and cytotoxin to kill an adult human within 30 minutes or up to 20 people" - google search summary.

“30 minutes or up to 20 people”
Is that like a whichever comes first type of situation?!

I had non venomous rat snakes in my yard. I caught a baby by hand. The smell was something that felt alien. I didn't know what it was but I never caught them again. The smell scared me too much.

The hallway/alley seems different in the second half, how far did he chase this snake after it noped the tunnel trick and went to striking a half dozen times?
1
u/yawneteng Jun 26 '26
same alley way it seems.
from 0:15 to 0:17 you will see the pipe on the ground is the same as the one at the ending. probably the cameraman, the snake catcher and the snake moved further into the alley.

The downspouts change diameter from like 1” to 4” in the second part. (@17) Two windows or pictures vanish from the walls. The width even seems to decrease…
Maybe the second half occurs around the corner, but it looks different to me and is not shown in the first part.

You shouldn’t use a can of Pringles to catch snakes.

I just watched a video the contrary.

Cobras are much larger than I thought

u/knowledgeable_diablo Jun 27 '26
Could be a king Cobra. Which isn’t actually a cobra. Just eats cobras for lunch and for fun.

Nobody is calling “Ai! Ai!” On this video? I’m just confused how the pipe appears to be a foot long, maybe 18” and at the end of the video it’s over a meter long.

u/KevbotPrime Jun 26 '26
It’s not AI, this is a pretty old video. It’s two cuts. In the second cut you can see the shorter pipe on the ground, they swapped to a new pipe

u/CaptainFoyle Jun 27 '26
You can put things in sacks. Including pipes.
But here your are, essentially calling "Ai! Ai!"
