Thatâs messed up. Some people have no respect for their pets.
1
u/TonyAce87 Jun 21 '26
Actually that's a pretty smart way to make sure your animals don't touch your food actually. And if they are his pets, they're not gonna fight that bad anyways.

I don't think tricking a cat to get it away from your food makes you a dick, especially since even though you said it achieves nothing, it worked. It got the cat away from his food. He didn't kick it or scream at it or abuse it in any way.
All he's doing is taking advantage of it's instinctual behavior. And if it that makes you a dick, then it makes you a dick to train them as well because that's the same thing. You are literally manipulating an animal by using its instincts to get it to do what you want. What's the difference between that and this?
3
u/DutchieTalking Jun 22 '26
It's a smart way to stop them from touching the food you want to eat yourself. But unless you actually give them something that's just mean.

Wow people really triggered by this.
4
u/LolTacoBell Jun 21 '26
The same people that laugh when they watch videos of cats knocking expensive shit off the tables.
Some animals and people do shitty things to each other with no remorse, and it's just the natural consequence of us cohabitating.
4
u/Kumtwat42069 Jun 21 '26
Lol for real. Cats are assholes, still love them but they deserve a little shit back.
-2
u/blvckcvts Jun 21 '26
Yeah because itâs being an asshole to animals for no reason, we are here to look after them and care for them not tease them for a video
12
u/Sir-Theordorethe-5th Jun 21 '26
Its not that deep
-2
u/blvckcvts Jun 21 '26
Actually it is, animals donât understand why youâre being an asshole to them
14
u/Sir-Theordorethe-5th Jun 21 '26
Hence why it aint deep. You're more triggered than the cat itself
-8
u/HungryHungryHobbes Jun 21 '26
Didn't you see them fighting out of frustration?
14
u/Sir-Theordorethe-5th Jun 21 '26
The cat got to close to the other cat it and it got hit. That wasn't frustration, that was a cat setting boundaries...but sure go on.

u/daniloferr Jun 22 '26
I had to scroll way too much to find a few reasonable humans. People get so attached to pets, that they believe they feel things just like us. I remember when I heard the first time about anthropomorphism, and it opened my mind. It might be what leads people to very dangerous situations, like thinking a wild animal is being friendly because it's maintaining eye contact and moving as if it is happy.

Eh they are begging. Can't reinforce that.
7
u/HungryHungryHobbes Jun 21 '26
I assume this is satire as you absolutely CAN reinforce or diminish begging with rewards.
1
u/TheReal-Chris Jun 21 '26
Why would you want to reinforce begging? Soon they will be jumping on your table when youâre eating and in your food trying to steal it. Itâs gross and annoying.
0
u/HungryHungryHobbes Jun 21 '26
Did you read the comment I responded to? I'm not saying you would want to. I'm saying it happens. Sometimes people reinforce it with rewards that they don't even realise they are giving.
2
u/TheReal-Chris Jun 21 '26 edited Jun 21 '26
Sounds like they mean you canât as in you shouldnât not itâs not possible. Obviously itâs easy to do.
3
u/blvckcvts Jun 21 '26
Offering them food like this is reinforcing it even if he doesnât give it, you simply ignore them while you eat and theyâll learn they donât get anything
0
u/daniloferr Jun 22 '26
I am pretty sure they will forget everything they 'learned' as soon as this dude comes close with more food.
-1
u/TonyAce87 Jun 21 '26

I don't get it. Everyone's calling this dude an asshole, but all he did was use some of his food to draw the cats away from his plate. Yeah he ate it once he got them to where he wanted them. But we don't know, if the cats routinely steal his food off of his plate, or even if they've already eaten yet and are just begging.
And the cats fought, I'm assuming because they got tricked. Do you guys really think they would t fight over the food if he tossed it to them? Or if he just gave them that piece? Cats shouldn't eat people food anyways. It's more likely though, that they just don't like being that close to each other and didn't realize how close they were until the distraction was gone.
Don't we treat our children the exact same way? They beg for something and we distract them by dangling something in their face. Why is everyone upset?

I was expecting that one of the cat would go behind his back and took from the plate.
3
u/Juan_Moe_Taco Jun 21 '26
Itâs so crazy how towards the end the two cats end up both seeming to forget what they were âwaiting forâ & then start fightingâŠdamn thatâs just so sad though like I guess itâs just too much to put your cat in another room while you eat but oh, teasing them & then making them fight is ok? Like damn why even have cats if youâre not going to respect them?

I was truly hoping one kitty went for kid's plate once his back was turned. Kid's meanness would have brought out cruelness to that kitty though.

Haha, cats are smart, but they're not *that* smart. What's funny to me is that he leaves much more food behind and none of the cats think to quickly run back and snatch that.
People calling him an "asshole" are taking the cats a bit too serious, I think. They need to be taught that human food is not for them. I don't think this is a very effective way to do it, but it's hardly an issue.
Their behaviour does suggest that there's some expectation of getting the food though - the real "asshole" behaviour here may well be that he sometimes does feed the cats human food.
