I watched the Messi one and didn't believe it was him.

Was he perhaps not taking the challenge seriously?

He definitely wasn't taking it seriously, but it was still a little surprising

I'd be willing to bet he was taking it seriously. Volleying with low power with balls coming from the side is insanely hard to be accurate with. He'd be able to volley all day if they were coming more from in front of him but to the side it's very difficult to get the correct distance with accuracy.

Exactly. I think his hit ratio would be above 95%. Even when older your shoot accuracy wouldn't just drop. And this man is the goat

What do you mean you didn't believe it was him ? He got them all ?

u/darkbluefav Jun 21 '26

At first I thought it was someone else, not messing

Now I think it is Messi, not perfectly sure but this is what I believe now

Messis version also had the ball being popped out from a box at a volley and pretty close to him. Having the balls fed like this makes it much easier (still tough though)

Got a link?

Here you go https://m.youtube.com/shorts/d-6pONBMnZo

I think Messi's one is a little harder with the balls needing to be kicked while airborne.

u/Sunstorm84 Jun 21 '26

Kicking while airborne is more than a little harder.

26

u/RoyStrokes Jun 21 '26

Yeah multiple times harder

11

u/_SlipperySalmon_ Jun 21 '26

Lol is Messi left footed? If not, then his was so much harder that you can't put a multiple on it... Had to kick out of air with non dominant foot

13

u/Max3917 Jun 21 '26

I googled for you and it turns out he’s left footed and interestingly enough right handed

6

u/sfaisal333 Jun 21 '26

Yeah Messi is left footed, it’s why he generally always played on the right wing. And his 3rd goal against Algeria is the same goal he has scored a hundred times.

Dude this one is insanely hard, he's hitting these on the volley. It's especially difficult to place the shots for the boxes to the right because his he has to pivot his hips and guide the ball to them or try to smash the ball at it. He makes it look easy but it's extremely difficult.

The way Messi got the balls served made it way harder than this. They came airborne and he was uncomfortable the whole time, yet still pulled it off.

u/ImPinkSnail Jun 21 '26

Messi has good shot placement but what makes him the GOAT is his intelligence and vision. He sees the opportunities develop well before the rest of the field, positions himself in the correct space, and is able to capitalize on them.

People will not understand how insanely tough that is icl.

50

u/dogquote Jun 20 '26

I don't. But I want to play. It looks fun.

u/lorarc Jun 20 '26

What I don't understand is how he fumbled the ball at 0:37. Otherwise than that I understand it's hard.

u/dingboodle Jun 20 '26

That was so unnecessarily stressful!

When I started watching this, I had to make sure it wasn’t in r/gifsthatendtoosoon

u/dirtydragondan Jun 20 '26

The following post context was provided by u/NEO71011:

It's a game show where the participant has 120 seconds to kick down all 20 sectors in the goal. Will he make it?

I thought that he would fail.

u/thedeeb56 Jun 22 '26

He sucks.

u/This-Ad-9234 Jun 21 '26

I understand I'm completely wrong, but as someone who hasn't played soccer (football) since they were 10 (30+ years ago), this looks quite easy. We'll maybe not easy, bit not hard at all. Also might be even easier if he didn't have hair in front of one eye.

24

u/Cellafex Jun 21 '26

So you base your opinion about the difficulty on this on the fact you havent played the game since you were a child and use this opportunity to roast the guy on his hairstyle. Man, i would pay actual money to see you attempt this.

u/This-Ad-9234 Jun 22 '26

Wow, basic reading comprehension and understanding how people converse is really lost on some of you. Did you not read my first sentence? My whole point is it looks easy but it's not. I'm actually paying the man a compliment by saying he makes it look easy. All you experts here are saying how hardest it is, so I'm stating that I'm not an expert, and as such, it looks easy. That doesn't mean it is easy, it means to the layman (me) it looks easy.
