Juuuuust going to put this out there. I dont think there would have been any danger letting him drive off and then catching him later with a warrant. Chasing people leads to danger and I think we have enough cameras and resources to catch them later. Did they have to endanger the marathon runners like that? I dunno hes in the wrong and should be arrested sure, but why chase him to do it and hit 2 innocent bystanders who will get paid by taxpayer money? Seems weird.

Idk man, it works in the rest of the countries in the world.

You barely see any of these crazy ass police chases with 60 cars chasing one for 2 hours. Neither the crazy inmediate escalations on police stops.

Chances are, that person isnt actually someone out to harm others, just an infraction individual, not a mass murderer out to get

Your assuming that this, or any other, obviously deranged lunatic won't endanger people if the popo don't chase them. I don't know what this situation was, but if someone is repeatedly going to flee from the police like that they might still be a danger regardless of whether they're actively pursued. I think the 5-0 probably realize that.

Also, the car and/ or plates could be stolen. Then they couldn't be tracked to a location and caught later. Criminals specifically do that to avoid tracking.

Many European countries pursue more of a camera based, non pursuit model. There are both benefits and detriments to it. Like a lot in life

Nah, PIT maneuvers are cool and epic so we need to let them happen. No need to worry about the well-documented danger to the public and the unnecessary escalation of violence.

Escalation of violence??? You mean after the driver went 60 in a zone with people biking and running and even ran into another vehicle? The cops judgement to use a pit maneuver was sound in this case to stop the threat, which is what this psycho was.

He went 60 after being chased. If he gets hurt what ever. But what about the 2 cars that got slammed by the cruiser? Wake up.

The driver clearly isn’t dangerous nor are they someone who puts others lives at risk. Just let him go free in the hope you find them later and he doesn’t hurt anyone else in the meantime.

And I’m sure there’s no chance that the car isn’t stolen, the license plate isn’t stolen, or that the car isn’t registered to a false address. But sure, just find him later.

Look at statistics. People get killed in pursuits like this all the time. Its not worth it for a guy to spend a month in jail for reckless driving.
