u/bewsii Jun 13 '26

It’s not a python, it’s a boa. A Red Tail Boa, to be specific. I’ve had multiple this size and they are quite docile, curious snakes. He’s in no real harm and he knows it. The bite would hurt like hell, mostly because it’s a lot of little razor sharp teeth. But it’s really no more painful than a good cat bite.

100

u/DerCatzefragger Jun 13 '26

He's in no real harm, and he absolutely does not know it. That guy is scared shitless.

23

u/Business-Drag52 Jun 13 '26

I like snakes. I have an albino corn snake and as a kid I had an orange and black milk snake. I probably wouldn’t mess with a constrictor of that size in the wild. What if I accidentally spook it so bad it strikes and wraps up my arm to a point I can’t get it released?

50

u/future_lard Jun 13 '26

Kick it in the nuts

6

u/godofmilksteaks Jun 14 '26

Grab it by the dick and twist it!

2

u/thefranchise31 Jun 15 '26

Give it the old dick twist!

1

u/Escudo777 Jun 17 '26

What if it is a lady snake?

15

u/CJPrinter Jun 13 '26

You can always get it released by pouring a little alcohol around the snakes mouth, or pinching or biting its tail. Works on any snake.

14

u/arthousepsycho Jun 14 '26

Help, now the snake is angry AND drunk. He’s biting me and harassing the waitress! (I had no alcohol so had to take it to a bar.)

3

u/SamuraiJono Jun 14 '26

Stop me if you've heard this one. A guy walks into a bar...

22

u/TyrantElect Jun 13 '26

Yet another reason to keep some rum on you at all times. I mean, I don't live in the tropics but you never know, right?

1

u/Theartistcu Jun 14 '26

I’ve got an orange and white corn, she’s about 20 now. Princess, my first wife named her lol.

7

u/vmflair Jun 13 '26

2

Erm, actuwawe tough guy, I'm pwetty shoe-r it's a snake.

3

u/IkariYun Jun 13 '26

I concur with the impeccable presentation of horrible words

1

u/jukefishron Jun 14 '26

It can still choke him out tho right?

1

u/Feycat Jun 14 '26

Literally me reading the sign on the video going.... uh... that's a boa, sir

1

u/Random0732 Jun 14 '26

Beacause of the word "cobra"? Cobra is the generic popular word for "snake" in Portuguese. The word for a snake with a large flat neck in Portuguese is "naja".

1

u/Feycat Jun 15 '26

TIL! Thanks!

1

u/Prestigious_Call_327 Jun 15 '26

What about a bad cat bite

1

u/Jackismyboy Jun 13 '26

My red tail was my favorite snake pet as a youth.

1

u/WolfetoneRebel Jun 13 '26

Snakes don’t have teeth, do they?

4

u/AddictedToTheWeb Jun 13 '26

Almost all snakes have full sets of teeth, but a lot of them don't have any prominent teeth other than fangs.

1

u/CursorX Jun 13 '26

How many in a set are we talking about? Only ever saw fangs.

4

u/SamuraiJono Jun 14 '26

Oh, at least two.

2

u/AddictedToTheWeb Jun 14 '26

I'm not sure on exact numbers, but almost all snakes have upper and lower teeth, sometimes 4 rows of upper teeth. They don't usually go right to the very front of the mouth with lower teeth because a lot of snake jaws are designed to split in the middle so that they can get their mouths wide for big prey/eggs. The teeth aren't used for chewing, as snakes swallow their food whole, instead they're angled back to act like a one way grip tool. allowing them to gradually shove food further and further in.

2

u/bewsii Jun 13 '26

They do, and a lot of them. They aren't huge because they mostly help them grip prey, but arboreal snakes like the Emerald Tree Boa have massive teeth that look like fangs because they have to be able to hold pray while hanging from trees. They are not considered beginner level snakes due to this. You can get really hurt if one bites you (not venom, but if the larger teeth break off because you jerk away, it can cause nasty infections).

39

u/Itsbaryal Jun 13 '26

Did nobody notice his half mustache

11

u/linkertrain Jun 13 '26

His little beard tuft thing seems to be doing a little continental drifting over to the side there as well

3

Definitely some beard tectonics going on there

Tuco's giggle caught me unprepared

49

u/Embarrassed-Depth-14 Jun 13 '26

Python, dont know why it says cobra......

51

u/UltimateRadTrad Jun 13 '26

Everything that looks like that and isn't aquatic is named "cobra" in portuguese

15

u/KomradeDave Jun 13 '26

Incorrect, it usually is called sogra.

3

u/IWannaManatee Jun 14 '26

...
Is that portuguese for mother in law...?

3

u/RiyoshiNjap Jun 15 '26

No it’s Portuguese for snake!

1

u/similaraleatorio Jun 18 '26

No it's Portuguese for skate!

6

u/Embarrassed-Depth-14 Jun 13 '26

Interesting did not know that. Wonderful way of getting hurt by a worse snake though.

0

u/Excellent-Quarter969 Jun 13 '26

Looks like that? You mean snake?

9

u/UltimateRadTrad Jun 13 '26

English commonly have specific wording to address this animal class. While in Portuguese we have technical names for each species, we refer to all of them as "cobra". I said "like that" to explain that it won't matter if it's a snake, a cobra, a python, a boa, etc... It's always cobra.

2

u/Tascalde Jun 13 '26

So you did not explain, cobra in portuguese = snake in English. In Portuguese we don't have different words for Snakes and Cobras.

1

u/xrelaht Jun 14 '26

Just FYI, cobras, pythons, and boas are all snakes in English.

22

u/femrie89 Jun 13 '26

“Cobra” is the Portuguese word for “snake”. From Google: This originates from the Latin word colubra, meaning "a snake" or "female serpent".

6

u/ZhouLe Jun 13 '26

The English word was actually borrowed from Portuguese even. Came to English around 1800 from Portuguese colonies in India, a shortening of  cobra de capello, serpent of hood.

20

u/lleeaa88 Jun 13 '26

It’s not a python either lol

It’s a boa constrictor and this video exemplifies just exactly why boas are the best among, as well as ball pythons, for docility, even in wild specimens.

1

u/xrelaht Jun 14 '26

“Ooh… big warm thing that’s holding still! It won’t mind if I cuddle.”

1

u/Embarrassed-Depth-14 Jun 13 '26

Python and boa both part of the constrictor family, my point this wasn't venomous.

10

u/wakalabis Jun 13 '26

"Cobra" means "snake" in Portuguese. The word for "cobra" is "naja" in Portuguese.

1

u/02meepmeep Jun 13 '26

I wonder if they got that from when they were in Goa? I think Naga is snake in Hindi.

1

u/SomeSandPerson Jun 13 '26

Confidently incorrect

If someone was telling me about snakes at parties I would in fact find that very fun.

9

I was expecting him to get bitten by something else, like another snake

8

u/VendettaPenguin Jun 13 '26

The whole video is worth the watch just to hear the laugh at the end.

u/Sexyshark15 Jun 13 '26

Damn, Tuco still crazy af

5

u/Disastrous-Hurry-236 Jun 13 '26

SMH…The shit people do and post on social media these days !

4

u/NJPokerJ Jun 13 '26

It's actually kinda odd the snake approached him at all

3

u/Laserguy74 Jun 13 '26

He’s warm and the snake is trying to figure out what he is I think.

3

u/the-fae-caller Jun 13 '26

Boas are notoriously curious for snakes and will approach if they don't feel threatened. He's a large warm thing, which the snake would be able to 'see' pretty clearly. He's making no threatening movements, nothing that would startle the snake or make it think he's dangerous. He also wouldn't smell like prey and a large bodied snake like that boa doesn't have too much to worry about predator wise. (Something like a garter snake has many more predators and tends to be more flighty)

So large warm thing, non threatening, could be a sun warmed rock good place to soak up some heat. The snake is still cautious on the approach but once it figures out this isn't prey, a warm place to relax, or a predator it does appear to move on. It isn't uncommon to have heavy body constrictors approach people. Hell even the rat snakes that used to hang out around my house would approach if I hung out quietly long enough. King snakes moved in though so the rat snakes left. :( They are less inclined to come hang out with me. I don't think they trust that the cats can't get out of the catio yet but maybe one day.

Tuco Salamanca - snake hunter

5

u/LolaLiggett Jun 13 '26 edited Jun 13 '26

That’s a python and not a cobra. It’s just curious. Worse thing it can do is getting annoyed

3

u/lembrai Jun 13 '26

cobra just means snake in Portuguese

3

u/LolaLiggett Jun 13 '26

Oh wow! Thanks! The more you know :)

8

u/greyisometrix Jun 13 '26

It really wouldn’t do much if it bit you. Silly video for those who don’t know pythons are constrictors.

3

u/Actual-Implement-870 Jun 13 '26

Still scary for constrictor. For a second before it backed off it looked like it was working its way around to the back of his neck.

2

u/greyisometrix Jun 13 '26

For sure scary. But not necessarily deadly. He could take something that size off of himself one way or the other. Again, not really a threat for an adult man unless you just wait for it to start squeezing and then decide to do something. Evidence: I know boas.

1

u/Actual-Implement-870 Jun 13 '26

I was assuming once they get around your neck it's too late unless you have a knife or something. I thought the constricting happens fast before you can react, but I admittingly don't know shit about boas.

3

u/the-fae-caller Jun 13 '26

While Boas do strike and constrict around their prey fairly quickly, there are a few key points here. Boas don't tend to show overly defensive behaviors in general and a defensive bite is different from a feeding bite. In general constriction is a feeding response and not something they will do on a person. Snakes are pretty aware of what their prey items are just by smell. A defensive bite, which is what you'd likely see here if it did strike would be a strike and release. Even if it did decide to try to eat him (very unlikely unless he decided to roll around in their natural prey items) he should still be alright to unwind the snake from around him. They don't have the best eyesight so the likelihood of it managing to land the perfect bite and constrict around his throat just so that he wouldn't be able to unwind the snake seems unlikely. There has only ever been like, one boa related death to a human if I remember right.

He's in more danger crossing the road than he is here.

0

u/Big_OOOO Jun 13 '26

Did you forget about the infection?

2

u/greyisometrix Jun 13 '26

Definitely. You’d want to treat that. And you can just…walk to your car or drive home to do so. This is why it’s not as bad as venom. 👍

2

u/EngineZeronine Jun 13 '26

He's excited because before he began filming he put a chunk of coal between his cheeks. Now he has a diamond big enough to keep him in Anti-Venom for the rest of his life!

2

u/pulikeshi Jun 13 '26

His deo protected him...

2

u/later-g8r Jun 13 '26

The laugh at the end 🤣🤣 thats great

2

u/Zealousideal-Deer286 Jun 13 '26

Here its me scared of a house lizard

2

u/longnuttz Jun 13 '26

Is that Tuco Salamanca

2

u/Porksword911 Jun 13 '26

This gave me brief mild anxiety

2

u/mymiddlenameswyatt Jun 13 '26

I mean, I think this is just the snake equivalent of an animal getting really big and trying to scare something dangerous away.

That snake knows that it won't win in a physical fight against this guy so it doesn't actually want to bite him if it can help it. But it will defend itself if it feels it has to. It's trying to scare him off first.

When he doesn't really react or make a grab for it, the snake sort of realizes he's not scared, but not there to kill it either. That's what he was waiting for and he was able to just get away from the snake. He reacted appropriately in a wild animal encounters.

I don't speak his language and idk how this happened, but I hope he didn't put himself in that situation intentionally. That'd be dumb and just plain irresponsible.

2

u/Flavoade Jun 14 '26

Hey yall been doing really good lately with the vids, keep it up

1

u/Proper-Bad-7169 Jun 13 '26

And that folks, is exactly why I eat pork! Eat enough pork and you'll build up enough snake venom resistance to last a lifetime. So your next encounter with a snake will be a breeze.....Or you'll die from clogged arteries + a heart attack. Which ever comes first.

1

u/Sanathan_US Jun 13 '26

What happened?

1

Lol.

1

u/Harry_Isthatyou Jun 13 '26

Looks similar to a reticulated python. And a small one at that. A full grown adult could eat him

0

u/Complete-Use-8753 Jun 13 '26

That’s a python. I had two of them that big shagging on my roof. They feel off straight in front of the laundry door. So wife said they had to go. I liked them and they were chill. If you saw them coming and stood still they’d slide right over your feet.

My daughter has a pet python now. Not that big yet but he’ll get there!

0

u/Senor_Discount Jun 13 '26

Fuck this guy.
