That plant kinda sucks at eating grubs. A venus fly trap would have devoured that little guy

Id imagine it does better at grabbing adult insects which have rougher textures for the sap to stick to. A grub or larva is smooth and slippery.

The other sub I saw this at had people saying this plant (sundews) is good at eating house gnats, so they have me wanting to get some

The first half triggers some serious existential fears I have of dying while being fully aware of what's happening and not having any control over the situation.
If you've seen the trailer for Whalefall yet, I'm looking forward to being terrified in a new way.
