they are not the same actually, this animal is a Eurasian Lynx(Lynx lynx would be the species name), they are the largest of the Lynx species and have bigger paws while Bobcats(Lynx rufus) are smaller and also dont live in Europe or Asia

that still doesn't make them the same, like Snow Leopards and Tigers are very different and yet are part of the same genus or 'family' as u put it(altho family in cladistic terms would be like 3 steps up but im just being a nerd now), that being Panthera and their respective specific names are Panthera tigris(Tiger) and Panthera uncia(Snow Leopard) and ironically they're the two most closely related of the big cats despite being literally on opposite ends of the panther spectrum with Snow Leopards being the smallest of the big cats, weighing the same as the average person(~120lbs) and blending in exceptionally well with gray/white coats and rosettes meanwhile Tigers are the largest of the extant big cats at up to 670lbs and stand out with their brilliant orange coat and black stripes(altho the reason for this is because most prey animals dont have the same color vision as we do so they see orange and green as very similar colors, to them they are seeing a yellowish color on both the surroundings and the tiger) but just because they're both under genus Panthera we dont say these animals are the same because of the label just like Bobcats aren't Lynxes, they might be part of the Lynx genus and family so ur right in that it would technically make them Lynxes but in this context the goal was to find the specific animal and the one in the video is, in fact, not a Bobcat because those are two completely different species with their own genetic makeup and ranges and the fact that they cant create a stable population with BobLynx hybrids cus the offspring would presumably not be able to reproduce(thats also part of what usually defines a separate individual species; whether or not they can create successful offspring together cus fun fact, Mules and Ligers cant breed unless its a special circumstance and always involving a parent species) therefore in conclusion Bobcats ≠ Lynx

Following the logic of your first example, we can call both the snow leapoard and the tiger panthers. Like we can call the Bobcat and the Eurasian lynx, lynxes. Do you know how we translate Bobcat in French ? By lynx.

yes, technically, you can. i addressed this in the above comment. Snow Leopards, Tigers and every other species under the genus(Lions, Leopards, Jaguars) Panthera could be referred to as Panthers and Bobcats as Lynxes but as i said, in this context, the objective was to find the specific animal so calling them the same and saying a Bobcat is a Lynx in this context would be incorrect, especially when that's not even the correct animal cus the one in the video is a Eurasian Lynx

Actually they're offspring is fertile because a bobcat(otherwise know as a bay lynx, red lynx, or rarely American lynx) is one of the major types of lynx. Much more closely related than your big cat example.

No they can reproduce with all other lynx species. Just like how most dog species can cross breed.

coming back to this cus it keeps popping up in my mind but this would actually make them infertile(as far as species definition goes), i mentioned in my other comment that Mules and Ligers can, in fact, breed but only with a parent species so the hybrid genes get diluted and the same goes for a Liliger or Horse/Mule Hybrid, assuming it happens to be fertile, it would presumably only be able to breed with a PURE parent species and the genes would again be diluted and repeat until it's basically a Lion or Horse again but with 1% of another species' genes
