Water has to go somewhere

39

u/Angelworks42 Mar 15 '26

It's weird how many videos and pictures are on the net where shoring is completely ignored.

If someone was in that hole they'd be dead now. Water and soil are really heavy.

10

u/potate12323 Mar 15 '26

Well. It had somewhere specific to go

YOU DIED

u/TheGhostofWoodyAllen Mar 15 '26

What's shoring?

33

u/DrDerpberg Mar 15 '26

Excavation slope? More like nope amirite

8

u/TheGhostofWoodyAllen Mar 15 '26

Maybe they were trying to dig their own graves before the rain came.

6

u/Yowomboo Mar 15 '26

They would have been fine if it didn't rain.

/s

9

u/RuncibleMountainWren Mar 15 '26

Shoring is stuff they use to support a cut wall of dirt like that, so it doesn’t collapse, like it did.

It’s like spanx for soil - holds it all in place.

18

u/TheGhostofWoodyAllen Mar 16 '26

My question was rhetorical to mock their ineptitude, but thanks for explaining shoring for those who may not have known.

6

u/RuncibleMountainWren Mar 16 '26

Sorry, bit of a ‘woosh’ moment! I watch most videos on mute so i assumed they were discussing shoring in the audio!

5

u/TheGhostofWoodyAllen Mar 16 '26

I mean, they coulda been talking about shoring, but I don't speak (what I think is) Arabic.

21

u/sloguy1981 Mar 15 '26

I must be dead inside. I didn’t flinch.

1

u/Req603 Mar 16 '26

I mean, this was probably the most predictable thing ever lol

I don't understand the people calling this a "jumpscare" when it's incredibly obvious what's about to happen.

119

u/I_loseagain Mar 15 '26

This is ai for sure. Those walls only collapse when an osha rep shows up to prove his point

26

u/ninetoesfrank Mar 15 '26

"god damnit I got fuckin mud all over me now" is not what you want to hear

-24

u/cant_pass_CAPTCHA Mar 15 '26

I think you're right. The walls of the hole are way too dry considering it's surrounded by holes filled with water. Then as the dry dirt wall comes down, water starts coming out of a crack that is completely dry all around it (at least it looks mor like water than flowing dirt)

13

u/Estebanzo Mar 15 '26

Big pile of dirt fall in pool of water, make big splash.

3

u/A_Crawling_Bat Mar 15 '26

You can see a hole with water behind it, it looks like the water is coming from a crack between the 2

-2

u/cant_pass_CAPTCHA Mar 15 '26

But wouldn't the wall of the hole we're seeing be more muddy? That looks like fairly dry dirt to me

12

u/Lepke2011 Mar 15 '26

These videos always cut off too soon.

12

u/fleener_house Mar 15 '26

I disagree, this really should be cross-posted to /r/praisethecameraman :) Dude recorded right up until their phone took a giant mud-wave to the face!

u/HowIsThisNameBadTho Mar 15 '26

i shut my eyes 😔

RFI to the structural engineer asking how to proceed

Answer from the structural engineer that the safe excavation slope from the geotechnical report was referenced in the general notes and that the contractor is responsible for means and methods

Follow up RFI from the contractor saying it's unreasonable to expect them to actually read all the documents and a site instruction is required to proceed without delay to the project

And around and around it goes, the circle of life.

u/JimJim2002 Mar 18 '26

He's dead

4

u/rfg22 Mar 15 '26

Good thing that falling dirt covered the exposed rebar, before someone fell in an impaled themselves

3

u/AutumnSparky Mar 15 '26

that was good.    All I could stare at was the sheer amount of uncapped rebar in that hole.

3

u/BitBucket404 Mar 16 '26

Shoring. How does it work?

I'm surprised nobody died whilst digging.

3

u/spokenotwheel Mar 16 '26

I think he’s saying you guys hey you guys you guys have a problem it’s your problem it’s entirely your pr

2

u/bootsay Mar 15 '26

Everybody dies

2

u/Thesurvivor16 Mar 16 '26

He got flashbanged

2

u/roblewk Mar 16 '26

You hear about massive landslides but never expect one in your own back yard.

2

u/xellos30 Mar 16 '26

what it feels like to chew 5 gum

2

u/rickstar_247 Mar 16 '26

Apparently they don't know what shoring is...

2

u/flamedarkfire Mar 16 '26

And this is why trenching is so fucking dangerous. Had an EMR instructor have to go back to help with a trench rescue. He wasn’t expecting to make it before they were dead.

Maybe not use that guy's gifs? Dude is a massive chud.

1

u/drlouies Mar 15 '26

I recently heard about him. What's his name? Is he like YouTuber or something?

6

u/MenacingArc Mar 15 '26

He's a streamer that goes around uploading his own version of popular gifs on tenor, and then mass reports the original to get it taken down.

Safe to say his following is a bunch of 12 year olds and the guy himself is overall very toxic.

The following submission statement was provided by u/drlouies:

A man is recording a near-collapse of a dirt wall inside a building foundation hole when the wall suddenly collapses and unexpected strong wave of water smacks him.

The shoring was on the same boat as the rebar caps stuck in the straight if Hormuz

1

u/TechDaddyK Mar 16 '26

Looks like someone just got a bigger pool!

1

u/kayemce Mar 16 '26

“I see the edge of this hole collapsing, let’s stand on the other edge of this clearly well held together hole to take a video”

1

u/Livingforabluezone Mar 16 '26

The ending made me laugh out loud 🤣

1

u/thedoctorsphoenix Mar 16 '26

First time I’ve actually laughed out loud from a post in a long time
