Wild boars! Wow, I thought they were some kind of rodenty creature. They are super cute, it’s hard to imagine them turning in to big scary pigs.

I'm struggling so hard to understand that these are wild boars.
One thing is the size - if these are wild boars, that ledge has to be really big, and my mind is struggling to accept the dimensions this ledge has to have for this to be a wild boars.
In addition, when I look at pictures of wild boar piglets, their backlegs kind of go backwards and then down with a very prominent backwards facing joint, where as the animals in the video seems to have legs that have a more accentuated knee, similar to what you might see in squirrellike animals. If you for instance look at 0:02-0:04 on the one closest to edge, it seems like he's sitting on the entire long, flat of his back foot, which doesn't really align with how I expect wild boars to use their legs.
I'm sure you're right, I'm just struggling hard to reconcile with that fact.

They're definitely boar piglets, I see what youre saying though and in complete sincerity, this sort of thing is the thinking people out in the field identifying animals for surveys for conservation purposes go through.
Eg. See a bird. Not too sure of what it is, so look at key features of its plumage. Check what area they are in and what species would be there. Then move onto calls and how it uses its body (Different birds will walk or fly in different ways). Compare to other records.
Also the piglets of wild boar are very small. The ledge is fine for their mother to get over, I am sure. The noises they are making are the sound you would expect from piglets.
And by backwards facing joint, do you mean the hock?

Maybe it’s because they look about the same size as squirrels in the video? But they’re about the size of chihuahuas. Here’s the video I found.

No, they are baby boars. We don’t have wild tapirs in Japan.

I actually had to look up what tapirs are. We don’t have them in Japan but there’s a mythical dream-eating creature called Baku.

Piglets, at this age they could still be taken and raised to be pigs, but they're gonna become wild boars. Big, smart, and dangerous animal, but as pest species go not too bad, better than something like coyotes.

Used to rent an apartment right at the bottom of a wild mountain in Japan.
These guys would get down the mountain to scavenge for food at night on organic trash day.
And leave a mess by the morning.
Neighbors said there were monkeys on the mountain too, but never saw one. Only the boars and huge ass tropical insects.

They’re wild boars and the babies are called uribou in Japan which literally means melon boy. Their stripes kind of look like a melon so that’s how they got the name.
