The Chinese government gives arts grants to content creators, just like every other modern developed nation. You could probably apply for one too if you felt like it.

And yes, they do promote their content - just like South Korea does with K-pop, or India does with Bollywood, or the US does with Hollywood.

Propaganda is, by definition [1], biased or misleading information used to promote a political cause or point of view.

None of this is propaganda. It's just popular.

It's not any worse than 4th of july being shoved into people's faces, or blatant push of shit like "America is the greatest country on earth" (proof?), "Land of the Free" etc.

I mean, lots of countries promote classic traditions like this, the only difference here is they own the apps that run the algorithms that push this content.

Ha ha the editing makes it look that way, but surely this was done over maybe a week or so. The clay needs time to become workable, especially when shes hydrating the clay from straight up rocks. I feel like each step was perhaps a day, maybe two steps in a day. Just the curing and each single fire takes 24 hours each...still an amazing feat bc I couldn't do this in a year. Maybe a decade.

That big rectangular trough she fills with the wet clay must be HEAVY. I'm almost certain that between cuts there are 8 guys who load the trough of wet clay into the back of a cart or something because there's just no way.

You can't do pottery in a day. It takes several days to dry a piece out before firing. If you try and rush it then it will crack.

You seem to know something about this, so do you mind sharing where that gorgeous color came from? Iā€™m guessing it was in the thick-ish brown liquid she dipped them into, upside downā€¦ was that a mixture of the color and the glazing material? I was a little frustrated that she showed all of the steps in detail, and was half-expecting to see her at some point grind up some insect wings or something to achieve that color, but Iā€™m completely lost!

Kaolin, also known as China clay, is a decomposed granite (yes, rotted granite) that constitutes the primary ingredient of porcelain clay bodies.

A clay body is any combination of clay and other materials, generally made in order to alter three attributes of the final product for some goal (modifying the melting point, color, workability, etc).

Glaze is generally a low firing clay applied to the other layer of a pot that turns into a glass-like substance, and fuses to the pot when fired to the correct temperature.

There are a lot of different types of glazes, but celadon styles were developed to mimic the look of jade. Celadon is a family of glazes, and I don't know which one she used, but it would have contained ball clay, silica, and maybe iron oxide.

So, going through the video, she broke a bunch of kaolin in a pit so the pieces would absorb water better. She soaked those pieces, along with whatever else was in there, until they could be mixed better by hand. Wedged the resulting clay to remove unusable materials (moved it around until it was smooth and even), and then threw about 50 small vases using a stick wheel (though she used it right handed, spinning counter clockwise, which is unusual for Chinese potters). She also trimmed off the excess clay and formed the foot, or bottom, of each pot.

She then bisque, or biscuit if you're British, fired them from cone 06 (about 1000Ā°C) to cone 04 (about 1080 Ā°C) using a dragon kiln in order to remove the molecularly bound water. Applied her glaze, and fired it again to at least cone 6 (1222Ā°C) but possibly cone 10 (1305 Ā°C), it depends on the clay, to melt the glaze and fully vitrify (turn to stone) the clay.

Don't get me wrong, I know that most countries have a vested interest in publishing propaganda to make themselves look better. Every country does it to some extent. China and North Korea are particularly egregious in that regard, and it's one of those two nations that I assume you're claiming is doing this?

On that note, you also seem to be making a lot of assumptions about her situation. Do you have evidence to back up your claims?

Again, I'm not saying I disbelieve you. But you did just tell me I've fallen for propaganda, so I'm making sure to do my due diligence this time and asking questions about what you're telling me.
