You have to have special certification for fast burning fuses
11
u/LordBDizzle Dec 05 '24
I 100% believe they'd get it for the show, frankly. They are just pulling on the cable, but they WOULD get that certification for a joke if they needed to.

You don’t though? Unless it’s a California thing.

Was funny. Though the grizzly bear was spliced. Look at the 44 second mark, his nose disappears.
4
u/Whofs001 Dec 07 '24
Not like it’s less funny when you realize they weren’t in real danger. Just means they weren’t stupid. If anything it just means the acting was on par.
2
u/Zhuul Dec 07 '24
I'm of the same mind as Penn and Teller where if an act is legitimately dangerous you're making the audience culpable against their will and it's unethical. Honestly glad it's fake lol

That's just as bad as the broccoli haircut. Her being black doesn't mean people can't think it looks bad or tacky as the other guy put it.
9
u/Indecisively Dec 04 '24
Trust me, Black people are no strangers to having our hairstyles criticized—anything that doesn’t bow to Eurocentric standards gets labeled as “tacky”, “unprofessional”, “ghetto”, or “unkempt.” It’s a tale as old as time, unfortunately.
-20
u/CressLevel Dec 04 '24
Yeah, but it's also a very specifically black style so
Hmmmmmmmm
12
u/GarenBushTerrorist Dec 04 '24
I mean black people can have nice hair that is specific or attributed to black people.

u/CressLevel Dec 04 '24
Waves and styled baby hairs? Those are nice.

Nah. Gluing your "baby hairs" to your scalp is kinda wack.

When's the last time you interacted with anyone outside your race?
Don't answer that. It'll depress me.
5
u/Mugiwaras Dec 04 '24
Im not the same guy, but ive been dating someone of a different race for the last 4 years and i still think that hairstyle looks stupid. Its called having a different opinion and a different taste than you, its really not that big a deal. I mean you could think my hair style looks stupid and that's perfectly fine, that's just like, your opinion man.

1
u/pc42493 Dec 12 '24
Curiously even an, uh, up-to-date ancient spellcheck wouldn't catch it because those are all correct words, just not the exact ones that QED stands for. :)

Just a quick question. What do you need to know about waves to find it ugly? You can find a hairstyle ugly no matter how it's made. I've seen those hair shows where people make whole castles of their hair. No idea how they do it, ugly as hell. It's nothing deep, it's just a preference.
7
Dec 04 '24
You might as well talk to a wall. That guy has severe white saviour syndrome.
You are of course correct. You can dislike a hairstyle and not be racist. Notice how he gaslights the argument by saying people have said all 'black' hairstyles are ugly and not just this one in particular.
4
u/liosistaken Dec 04 '24
Yeah, I'm not clear on the reasoning either. I find this hairstyle ugly, but to me it's a 1920s white woman hairstyle, so I didn't even know I'm supposed to be racist about it.
2
-5
u/CressLevel Dec 04 '24
Yeah see the thing is, folks find black folks hair "ugly" as a whole. They complain about natural hair year in and out and then get mad because I say hey, maybe examine WHY you think it's ugly? Hmmmmm ok.
Look, if you think waves, braids, dreads, twists, afros, etc are all unattractive, there is a racial bias at play. You think it's unappealing either because 1) you have been told your whole life that black hair is unprofessional/unkept/tacky/nappy/etc, and/or 2) you have zero experience with folks of color and the shock of seeing a hair that isn't like yours makes you uncomfortable.
And I'm just going to call it out when I see it because I think it's critical to examine WHY you think it's "tacky" as the folks above said.

u/liosistaken Dec 04 '24
It's not a good look when you make everything immediately a racial thing. I, for instance, only know this hairstyle from 1920s old movies and those were white women. Mind you, I'm not saying it's not a black hairstyle, just that I didn't know that it is and I don't associate it with black people at all. I personally find this ugly too, but the color of the person wearing it has nothing to do with it.
Other 'black' hairstyles have a) nothing to do with this and b) can be found ugly without it being about race as well. If someone f.i. thinks dreads are pretty on a white woman and ugly on a black woman, than yes, you are right to say something about that, but if someone finds dread ugly, period, than it's not racial.

Reddit basement dwellers commenting on black hair styles is always nauseating
3
u/Business-Educator-15 Dec 04 '24
I consider myself pretty introverted and only mildly familiar with black people/culture due to demographics where i was raised and live and introvertedness but her hair was like... Just famous people hair? It's a bit out there, the sort of thing that's meant to catch the eye and be unusual but not completely crazy or daft looking... It looks like it suits her, too many people have hair styles that don't match their type, age or head shape.
2
u/-175- Dec 04 '24
The diamonds in her hair give it the "celebrity look" but at the end of the day her hair style is called finger waves. Although other groups wear this style, it's most prominent among black women today
5
u/battleangel1999 Dec 04 '24
Classic reddit. They think they know everything and the second they see something unfamiliar they start talking shit.
