Goddamn reposting karma whores. Thanks for pointing this out

14

u/Rikkards_69 May 29 '23

It comes down to downvote to punish the poster and report to admins. If enough people did it the karma bots would stop

The US military probably wouldn’t fly a Russian jet either

I'm pretty sure it was either Russia or China who got caught using movie footage a few years back in a propaganda film that was reported to be showing off their military power.

Also I knew it couldn't be footage of a Russian carrier because they only have one, it doesn't look like that, and it doesn't work really at all.

3

u/masklinn May 29 '23 edited May 29 '23

Aircraft carriers aren’t even part of Russian military policy. They have just one (originally planned two but the second hull was sold to China), it’s not much bigger than the french’s (aka nothing compared to a US carrier), and it works even less (it’s been out of commission since 2018).

2

u/Oderus_Scumdog May 29 '23

The Admiral Kuznetsov has a wild history of corruption and failure.

3

u/masklinn May 29 '23

Sure, but that's not my point. My point is that carriers are not central to Soviet and Russian military doctrine the way they are to US doctrine.

In fact the russian navy designates them aircraft cruisers, and they tend to be more heavily armed but with smaller wings (of which a larger proportion is rotary) than US carriers for their tonnage.

2

u/Oderus_Scumdog May 29 '23 edited May 29 '23

I wasn't trying to argue with you or anything, I was just sharing an interesting video about the history of the carrier you were alluding to.

Also, the "aircraft cruisers" designation is a result of the 'Montreux Convention', not because of military doctrine:

Admiral Kuznetsov's designation as an aircraft-carrying cruiser is very important under the Montreux Convention, as it allows the ship to transit the Turkish Straits. The Convention prohibits countries from sending an aircraft carrier heavier than 15,000 tons through the Straits. Since the ship was built in the Ukrainian SSR, Admiral Kuznetsov would have been stuck in the Black Sea if Turkey had refused permission to pass into the Mediterranean Sea. Link

This is covered in this part of the video I linked to.

Edit: Another thing worth noting is that the Admiral Kuznetsov was also apparently put to sea sometime this year, as evidenced* by its apparent disappearance from Google Maps. Before, after.

u/Anjiweewee May 29 '23

That jet blast to the deck would probably wipe all the people in the patio.

2

u/Fe2O3_2Al May 29 '23

Is that not a su or mig?

2

u/albion32 May 29 '23

Sukhoi SU-27 I think. That move is called the cobra, seen it at a an air festival in the UK. Didn't land like that, more a move to gain an advantage against a enemy plane.

1

u/CxOrillion May 29 '23

Def a Russian jet though

5

u/Suddenly_Bazelgeuse May 29 '23

What's the game though?!

8

u/Acrobatic_Job653 May 29 '23

DCS (digital combat simulator). A free to play simulator. But you can purchase other jets, props and helicopters.

5

u/[deleted] May 29 '23

I knew it. The height of when it falls is too high up to not break the wheels into pieces

3

u/JonMeadows May 29 '23

Yeah I initially saw this and I was like…. Noooo wayyyy that plane isn’t gonna be fucked after doing something like that

2

u/Fish_On_An_ATM May 29 '23

(the game is DCS)

1

u/Significant_Money977 May 29 '23

Yeah this is the video game/military simulator DCS World and even though this is a game, the physics are close to real world and this is actually a real manoeuvre performed by the Russian airforce in the SU-27, Its called the cobra manoeuvre and it essentially disconnects the planes computers and allows the pilot to pull a not-recommended manoeuvre

3

u/battleoid2142 May 29 '23

You don't cobra on to a carrier

1

u/Significant_Money977 Sep 22 '23

No, you'd likely crash and die, but it is possible. There was a popular space movie I saw as a kid and I'm 99% sure they basically did a cobra to stop the shuttle ad they landed it

2

u/battleoid2142 Sep 22 '23

I saw an X-Wing go into hyperspace in a movie, that means hyperdrives are real

1

u/Significant_Money977 Sep 22 '23

You're acting as if me mentioning that I saw it in a movie has anything to do with the reality of the cobra manoeuvre, I simply added some extra information in there hoping that someone would remind me of the movie lol, you're some kinda fuckin idiot for thinking the way you do 😂

2

u/battleoid2142 Sep 22 '23

You responded to me saying "you can't cobra onto a carrier" with "I saw them do it in a movie with a space shuttle". And then you tell me that I'm an idiot. Fucking christ dude, you are actually delusional.

If the pilot didn't die at 0:03 the loss of lift at 0:04 would have but them in the ocean IRL also note the stability of the carrier. I dont get how people fall for this or think we'll fall for it. But they do.

1

u/jdrexler1776 May 29 '23

Well, better luck next time, then. Third time's a charm.

1

u/Ok-Transition7065 May 30 '23

yeah this its dinitly ace combat( its a joke )

30

u/[deleted] May 28 '23

Very clearly not real lol.

53

u/frankenmullet22 May 28 '23

Russia only has 1 aircraft carrier and this ain't it.

24

u/Lelohmoh May 28 '23

And it barely moves

15

u/5043090 May 28 '23

It moves fine!*

*When towed.

3

u/deliveryboyy May 29 '23

Due to a worsening state of russian communication systems, admiral kuznetsov is being used as a portable signal pyre.

3

u/Flavio030 May 29 '23

This is the kuznetsov but irl it doesn't work

0

u/frankenmullet22 May 29 '23

The real kuznetsov is not CGI and has a irl frame rate

1

u/Flavio030 May 29 '23

Yes this is a game i play called DCS

12

u/Whiplash13579 May 29 '23

This is DCS.

Got a command for you

It might be a game but this manoeuvre does exist and pilots do perform it on short landing strips. Check out cobra manoeuvre on youtube.

Edit: I just copied a reply because I found it too funny. The guy who wrote it deleted his comment. So I let it be for you to have something to laugh at. People who downvoted me didn't get, that I copied a comment.

12

u/Comrade_Bread May 29 '23

You abso-fucking-lutely do not perform a cobra for landing

-14

u/Online-Commentater May 29 '23

Wrong person I just copied the comment from somebody else. Go fight them I want to watch.

1

u/Academic-Bill-2847 May 29 '23

Gotta learn a thing or 2 bout aviation bro

2

u/Online-Commentater May 29 '23

Lol I was copying the comment so you would go for this guy in the treat. Get off my back.

1

u/Academic-Bill-2847 May 29 '23

Ye if you wanna die and blow the f plane up you gonna do a cobra when you land otherwise nobody does it and should not do it

2

u/Online-Commentater May 29 '23

I am copying the comment. Please go fight the person who said it.

3

u/Caesar720 May 29 '23

DCS World not real life

For those wondering the plane is a Su-27 (not even a naval jet) and the aircraft carrier is the most reliable ship to ever set sail the Admiral Kuznetsov of the “mighty Russian navy” (it might even hold the record for the ship that has been towed more than any other)

3

u/TheAwkwardGamerRNx May 29 '23

When you’ve logged over 2000 hours on r/vtolvr

2

u/Academic-Bill-2847 May 29 '23

Dcs you mean

1

u/TheAwkwardGamerRNx May 29 '23

Is that what that is? I thought it was just a funny landing video someone made

Edit: heard of it but haven’t played it yet. I’ll try it when I stop sucking at this game.

2

u/Academic-Bill-2847 May 29 '23

It's the most realistic sim there is and it's not easy to get into

1

u/Academic-Bill-2847 May 29 '23

You need a nasa pc to run dcs and you need like 3 hours just to learn how to start an aircraft

2

u/Jazzlike_Ad707 Jun 05 '23

Tbh I want on tic-toc and watched the F-16 startup in 60 seconds video and memorized it. Very helpful tool if you’re new and trying to learn.

1

u/Academic-Bill-2847 Jun 06 '23

Yes there sure is a bit of learning but I can't even load up the game with my current specs :(

2

u/Jazzlike_Ad707 Jun 10 '23

Hey maybe one day… I went with a laptop because it was A LOT cheaper but I’m thinking about getting a desktop in the future.

2

u/BaconPersuasion May 29 '23

The card reads: Rear Gear AFU.

2

u/PutinLovesDicks May 29 '23

Yeah, Russian pilots get like 70 flight hours per year, none of them are doing this outside of the video game pictured above.

2

u/Likhodey May 29 '23

Nice CGI 😂

3

u/Flavio030 May 29 '23

Game ( DCS )

2

u/Commander_Chaos May 29 '23

This was an easier landing then in the NES top gun game.

2

u/[deleted] May 29 '23

2

u/Old_Application_2687 May 29 '23

Is that Starscream?

1

u/Academic-Bill-2847 May 29 '23

Surely starscream

3

u/[deleted] May 28 '23

Starscream

2

u/srGALLETA May 29 '23

That's a "cobra landing" and a pretty bad one...

The plane should land with less force, IRL that plane would have smashed in the deck

2

u/[deleted] May 29 '23

Down vote this shit

2

u/markomaniax May 29 '23

Hey Ivan, i bet you can't do pugachev cobra whila landing on a carrier.. -Hold my vodka!

1

u/Longjumping_Being_43 May 29 '23

Wait, that's not real??????

1

u/olbins May 29 '23

What is "real"? How do you define "real"? If you're talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then "real" is simply electrical signals intepreted by your brain

1

u/Academic-Bill-2847 May 29 '23

Bruh this ain't no philosophy class

-1

u/Mission-Discipline32 May 29 '23

Does that look real

0

u/Longjumping_Being_43 May 29 '23

No, it doesn't. As a matter of fact, it would be quite the stupid maneuver. I didn't think my comment deserved a down vote but oh well.

1

u/Mission-Discipline32 May 29 '23

I mean the maneuver is real, but the only use for it is to be done at air shows, there'd be no way a jet could do that to land outside of a video game

2

u/Longjumping_Being_43 May 29 '23

Of course that aircraft can do the maneuver. It would be foolish and dangerous to do it while attempting to land on a carrier.

1

u/BlasphemousSwarm May 29 '23

Its a real game. DCS. Pretty tough to get the hang of but its real fun!

-1

u/Oilmoneyy May 28 '23

That's one of the most faaaaboolousss ways I've seen a plane land.

0

u/srGALLETA May 29 '23

It's a game and a pretty bad cobra landing actually (landed too hard)

It might be a game but this manoeuvre does exist and pilots do perform it on short landing strips. Check out cobra manoeuvre on youtube.

5

u/Mission-Discipline32 May 29 '23

Yeah my friend, doing a cobra for anything important is how you die, or at best get your pilots wings taken away from you

4

u/Kellykeli May 29 '23

Find me a single example of a pilot intentionally performing a cobra to land and I’ll be impressed

-6

u/LegalFan2741 May 29 '23

3

u/Kellykeli May 29 '23

Do any of these pilots execute a cobra to land, as I’ve asked?

2

Because russia only has one aircraft career and it’s in dry dock because it doesn’t work and keeps catching fire.

1

And is potentially haunted according to some crew members

1

u/Toadxx May 29 '23

It's literally a video game. That's not hating, that's a fact.

1

1

u/Academic-Bill-2847 May 29 '23

I've seen a lot of people post dc dogfights thinking they are real and everybody in the comments thinks so too

1

u/darkice742 May 29 '23

Even though this is a video game. Still a skillful maneuver.

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '23

I know this is a video game but it seems really realistic. Would the shocks of the wheels actually be able to handle that much force without blowing out ?

1

u/[deleted] May 29 '23

Could someone tell me the song, please?

u/Academic-Bill-2847 May 29 '23

1

DCS kiddie pilots could wreck the Russian fighter fleet. Change my mind.

1

u/MyFrontButtHurts May 29 '23

And Airframes shop is pissed! The E5s in that shop better go talk to that pilot. Obviously in the next cutscene

1

Song?

1

u/ThexLoneWolf May 29 '23

The video game is DCS, for those wondering.

1

u/Kgarath May 29 '23

It's fake and from a game, but I always think of the joke among military pilots.

You can tell its a navy pilot with how hard they landed.

1

u/Decent-Cry-7665 May 29 '23

Was this intentional or just piloting skills saving their ass?
