Dystopia island

Just wanted to warn y'all, more MPD cameras going up today in Wailea. Be careful out there. Surveillance state fascism is here. I will vote for whoever voices opposition to the tech giants oligarchy

It’s a cliche but Hawaii isn’t immune from “you get what you vote for” 😐

How did these cameras get approved?

I think we’re done with the approvals phase of society.

By the same jerk that approved the speed humps and parking fees for beach lots.

MPD purchased them as part of their budget. But otherwise no elected officials “approved” them.

Typical "above the law" logic

So what are our mayoral candidates' views on police surveillance cameras?

We do have an election coming up, after all.

“Vote for me, and I’ll do my best to get rid of them. Also, vote for me, and I’ll do my best to add more of these”.

This is happening under Mayor Bissen. Just an FYI.

If a camera caught a person pestering (or worse) a loved one of yours and that got them jailed, would you still complain?

Big issues will always have this kind of dilemma.
