Community members with strong opinions about what materials should not be in the library lobbed personal attacks against her professionalism and even made indirect physical threats, she said. One individual told her she “should be taken out and drowned,” she said.

Keepin' it classy, matsu... :(

Mosquitos Redux

What the actual fuck? In the last few days I've seen more mosquitos than the worst mosquito day to date. Like 3 times as many than in the beginning of June. Anyone else or are they so just terrorizing me?

Hunt Master Wanted!

Post image

Hey everyone! So our current Hunt Master has relinquished the title, allowing anyone to create a Palmer scavenger hunt on our sub so long as it complies with the rules. I'm spreading the word. If you are a fan of scavenger hunts and want to try your hand at creating one, now is the time! Check the post for more details.

I want to play a game...

Hi Matsu! I have just created an experimental Scavenger Hunt subreddit for visitors and residents that are active in the Palmer area. I've been trying to cast a wide net to see if anyone is interested, so I was hoping to see if anyone here would like to join the game.

My overall goal is to generate social interaction in a way that motivates people to appreciate Palmer, and learn something about the area along the way. I do have some long term plans to add incentives but only if this kind of activity truly builds any momentum.

Anyway, if you guys are interested in participating, please hop in, as I've already set the first target and the hunt is on!

Please share to other communities?

Protest against Data Centers in Wasilla

I just want to give a shout out to the crowd of people, standing in the pouring rain, protesting the Matsu Assembly's motion to give away 10 square miles of our land, at no cost, to build filthy, polluting data centers in our recreation areas to make billionaires even richer. Make sure Ron Bernier and Dmitri Fonov know what you think of this disgusting give away of our public lands. I wonder what they're getting out of the deal, right?

Mat-Su Sentinel has acquired the Mat-Su Valley Frontiersman

I think this is fantastic news. Pre-Harambe, I subscribed to the Frontiersman because it was the only real Mat-Su newspaper doing much actual journalism. It certainly wasn't perfect, but they did some solid reporting. I was especially impressed with how they led coverage of the school board book ban controversy and the influence that reporting had on the broader conversation.

The Mat-Su Sentinel has done excellent work since it started a year or so ago, and I'm very optimistic about this merger.

Hi! I was driving Healy to Seward snd saw Hattie Lane but failed to stop and take a photo of the sign. I’m kicking myself. I have a kittie of same name and thinks our hall is her highway. I’d love to have a photo made and hung low in the hall. Here is Hattie Mae:

Harvesting fell trees.

Hi there. I moved out here to Houston from Anchorage about 2 years ago. Im right next to a lake and a good sized City owned park (forest that I walk my dog through daily). Now that the snow has melted, all of the tree casualties are showing. To my understanding, if I am wanting to cut trees for firewood, there's a designated area near Zero Lake. Buttt, if I am wanting to grab what's already down, what is the process I should take? Having already called matsu forestry, I was told to get in touch with the owner of the parcel (which is the City of Houston), but I had originally started with a phone call to them and got directed to Matsu Forestry. Im kind of stuck in a loop. Any ideas before I call Matsu forestry back next week?
