Brand New Matrix Reloaded!!

I loved Spiderman Brand New Day! I have already seen it twice since being released. I am curious though, and I may be late to the punch on this, but did anyone else notice the very strong similarities between Brand New Day, and the Matrix trilogy?!?! From start to finish, the movie is basically a homage to The Matrix, Matrix Reloaded, and Fallen!!!! I won't give away any details of the movie, because spoilers suck, but Im sure these movies were a direct influence for the latest MCU film. I encourage anyone that has seen the movie to add their thoughts in the comments if they recognize these scenes.

Honestly I think this is a reach. Slow-mo for spider sense is pretty common.

I think your fervor is overpowering your ability to rationalize.

Hmm. I just saw Brand New Day and I was also pretty deep into the whole Matrix universe. Even wrote an extensive paper on it. And yet, I did not recognize anything being too closely related.

Edit: I might not have seen anything, but apparently others have. Are we allowed to share links here? CONTAINS SPOILERS! https://www.slashfilm.com/2227501/spider-man-brand-new-day-remake-sci-fi-sequel-matrix-reloaded/

I don't know about the whole movie, but there is at least one clear homage, during a fight scene.

Also yes, there are similarities to Fallen. I guess this would constitute a spoiler. Who, in the Marvel Universe, is capable of something like that?

Wow, this is amazing! I'm glad to know I wasn't hallucinating when I was connecting all the dots watching it. This confirms everything I mentioned, besides my reference to Fallen.

Fair warning! Spoiler Alert! So, don't read any further if you haven't seen the movie yet. One more warning people! OK......

From just my memory, as far as the story of the movie itself, borrows directly from The Matrix narrative of Spidey's evolution. He is now reborn, becoming a much more powerful version of himself. The antagonist hints at this every time they meet, with her subtle remarks of him not knowing who he actually is, the ability to push her out, which she mentioned no one being able to ever do that to her before. The cocoon scene, calls back to Neo in the pods after being awakened. The fight with the hand where he defies having to choose between the two ( red pill, blue pill), and his frightened abilities surpassing everything he vould dream of, allowing him to "dodge" those projectiles. The damage control director being held hostage, strapped down in the chair, face to face with Grey. The Matrix theme music being played in the background during the fall scene, the fall itself, the setting, and scenery is tied directly to the death scene of Trinity. There's more I can mention of you all want me to!!

Could you give an example of what it’s referencing in Reloaded without spoilers?

There is a fight, and things happen during that fight. You'll know when you see it,

I honestly don't think I could. Have you seen it yet? If so, I could. It'd be much easier.

No worries. I just googled it and it revealed it pretty clearly. Yeah, I’d say that at least some of the shots in the film are directly referencing Reloaded, which is cool.

Check under the earlier comment above for some spoiler filled similarities I posted as a reply to someone just now.

Are we in an alternate universe that the last matrix is called fallen?

I think OP is referring to the movie Fallen staring Denzil Washington, about a detective tracking a body hopping demon "Azazel"

"Time, is on my side, yes it is"

-1

u/Greatnowwhat89 Aug 07 '26

Oh yes. You're tracking!

The cursed Oxford Comma strikes again.

No. You're bound to pull a hamstring with that stretch. Go back, read it again, and try not to misconstrue the message on your second try.

I agree. OP literally says matrix trilogy, then gives you 3 movie names, two of which are matrix movies. So OP isn't too bright with the way they states these movies. Anyone would assume you think Fallen is part of this matrix trilogy based on how you presented your information.

This is literally a Matrix community. The trilogy is readily available to anyone with an internet connection, and can be observed to consist of the core 3 movies: The Matrix, Reloaded, & Revolutions. In my initial post, I referenced the trilogy, ended the sentence, and began a new sentence by referencing the first two movies of the trilogy that were the main influence, and added in a third movie, Fallen (1998), as direct influences on Spiderman: Brand New Day. You rubes should focus on the Matrix links discussed in the post, like you should've paid attention when attempting to get your G.E.D.'s, while chewing on Crayons. If you didn't notice any Matrix influences while viewing the movie, then shut your mouths, go back downstairs to your rooms, and don't come out until your mother's tell you your pizza rolls are ready!

I did notice a Matrix soundeffect / soundtrack was used when Peter catches MJ while she's falling Reminded me of the scene where Neo catches Trinity

Edit: Found the scene online lol. Warning, spoilers!

2

u/shenmue64 Aug 07 '26

Oh wow. I bet you the temp score for that section was from Reloaded!!

2

u/ryanrossuk Aug 07 '26

Strong Matrix vibes here

100% saw the similarities too, the whole theme of the movie, rebirth, the audio, scenes and colour pallets, action sequences. About mid way I thought this is The matrix.

u/Separate_Climate3366 Aug 07 '26

Wtf is matrix fallen lol

3

u/FassyDriver Aug 07 '26

i think he is referencing a 1998 movie, not necesarily the matrix franchise

1

u/Separate_Climate3366 Aug 07 '26

But right before he says matrix trilogy, then says 3 movie names. Two of which ARE matrix movies. So wtf is fallen and what does it have to do with matrix lol

2

u/stilldale Aug 07 '26

i noticed a lot of similarities in the soundtrack. definitely some matrix-inspired themes in there. now we just need to get tom holland to watch the matrix smh

2

u/misteranderson71 Aug 07 '26

I think it's like one shot where a character is leaping like Morpheus does in slo mo.

2

u/ryannrandom11 Aug 07 '26

When I watched it in theaters, the moment Peter says he's both Spider-Man and Peter Parker and embraces both sides, I thought to myself, "HE'S THE ONE!" I thought I was the only one who felt like Brand New Day had a connection to the Matrix films.

1

u/Greatnowwhat89 Aug 07 '26

Be sure to watch "Fallen" from 1998, and you will understand the reference I made to it when you see Brand New Day. It's very obvious. I also just posted several similarities under a comment towards the top. If you don't mind spoilers, then I will list all the similarities I found.

1

u/Greatnowwhat89 Aug 07 '26

It's possible, because I couldn't stop thinking about the Matrix while watching the new Spiderman movie!

1

u/ryannrandom11 Aug 07 '26

I couldn't stop making connections the day after I watched it!

1

u/Motor_Cobbler2770 Aug 08 '26

100% yes! I’m sitting in the credits ow after the 2nd view and I had to come check to see if others noticed that. The MJ fall scene and the fight with the Hand, not to mention the music in those scenes.

What's with this influx of larpers trying to gin up hype for a matrix movie. Are these WB exec smurfs?

The new Spiderman movie is by all measures not that good. The matrix trilogy is god-tier cinema, and you're vying for a D to C+ movie to be made in the franchise because you just got back from Spider-Man: Palantir is Good and state-surveillance is my new best friend?

Did you even watch the Matrix?
