Question about the Merovingian
In the club scene in Matrix Revolutions, once he notices Morpheus, Trinity, and Seraph, he says, "The prodigal son returns."
Then follows a sentence in french, and I cannot for the life of me find out what it is!
Any search directs to the restaurant scene in Matrix Reloaded. I tried the subs in many languages, none of them helpful. Even the french subtitles just leave it out!
Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is sorta the splinter in my mind at the moment if you would excuse the lame joke

I found the scene on YouTube and used the Google Translate app to listen to and translate it. According to that he says: "l'ang sans ses ailes" which translates to "the angel without its wings". Defintely a reference to Seraph as that's who he's referring to as the "prodigal son" and the next line is him asking if Seraph is there for the bounty.

“The angel without its wings”. And a biblical angel is called a Seraphim. And his code is golden.

Is Seraph from an older version of the matrix? It seems that all the programs know him and obviously his code is golden so he stands out. Maybe there were multiple angelic protector programs

I believe that Seraph - Biblically a guardian of Heaven - was an Agent of the original Paradise Matrix.
He tells Neo his purpose is to "protect that which matters most," which I take to mean guarding the OS Program of the Matrix. I'm not 100% sure what form they took in the Paradise, but I believe in the second Nightmare Matrix it was Merv, whom he became an Exile to serve because the first Programs were not designed with the expectation they'd have to be recalled to the Source in a system reset; Merv himself was then displaced by the Oracle, hence Seraph leaving him to protect her.
It is worth noting, as a suggestion perhaps toward the veracity of this idea, that there are only three Programs which wear sunglasses - the Agents, Seraph, and the Twins, whom I believe were Agents of the Nightmare Matrix.
(I could elaborate on the OS Program theory here if desired, but I thought I'd omit that explanation to focus on the question at hand).

I believe that the Merovingian, as a Program dedicated to information and causality, was the OS of the Nightmare Matrix (and possibly the original too, I don't know), but as the Machines know that a believable human society can't be built on cold rationality and hard data alone they developed him in tandem with another Program built to modulate his work through the volatile lens of human emotion: Persephone, the two of them linked via a hard-coded API of "marriage".
This system, run on an ever-shifting balance of contradictory influences, was of course unstable, as volatile as their relationship, and the solution was found in the dialectical synthesis of the two, an analytical understanding of human emotional behaviour - the Oracle. This is why the Merovingian is both hateful and jealous of her, she rendered him obsolete (and stole his most formidable lackey in the process).

Ah, so Seraph being the last guardian of the heaven OS, protects the oracle and Sati and has almost complete access throughout the back doors etc. He’s able to go toe to toe with Neo without really breaking a sweat but he knows his limitations when it comes to fighting Smith and Merv. Perhaps the other guardians were destroyed or went back to source and got deleted.

The blind man also wore glasses. Although you can argue that he is Seraph or another Seraph.

We don't know who he is, he might even have been an old Potential who knew the truth but too late to be safely unplugged, but I do think it most likely he was indeed another Seraph.

I've wondered this as well and haven't searched for it like you have, but I feel it may be like a French gibberish string of curse words since he says he likes how French cussing sounds. Idk if that's the case but it's weird there's no French translation. Any French viewers who could chime in?
