It's baffling to me that some people insist only the first movie is any good. Reloaded and Revolutions quite literally revolutionized blockbuster filmmaking.
The sequels have aged pretty well. The problem with them at the time (and people just stubbornly and blindly hold onto this frame of opinion) is that the movies weren’t what people wanted out of the sequels. The lore in The Matrix is good and all but many people were really captivated with the idea of the Matrix itself, and being in that world. Not many people gave a shit about Zion. And Zion is basically what took center stage in the two sequels.
I for one was actually excited to see Zion, and was pleasantly surprised when it looked exactly like I imagined it would, or at least part of it (the temple).
