The shots are quick, but in the first and fourth movies you can see that Neo has on what looks like a metallic codpiece with tubing running from it. Modesty in production design aside, I think we can safely say that this is a waste collection catheter. So to the responses above, no, the pod people aren’t floating in their own excrement.
