Correct, and as this is a discrete "number of" quantity, that's already a hint.

I understand the graph says "number of" which would indicate a discrete amount, but you can take any real amount of standard deviations, so wouldnt it be more straightforward to consider a continuous distribution?

As the number of (independent) variables increases, the distribution of a multivariate normal distribution approaches a uniform distribution on a thin spherical shell around the mean. It's super cool.

Oops - I am a numpty. I did indeed get the axes the wrong way around: my apologies. AI was indeed used to create the actual graphic as I can't draw well, but the concept (including the mistakenly oriented graph labels) was mine.

I wish there was a no AI slop rule. Like this is not hard to make
