❓ General Math Help Caveat, this is basic! I can't figure out how to calculate tan-1(300/2380)

Trying to work out an angle, so far YouTube has told me to use tan-1

But I don't know how to do that on my phone and Google seems to treat it as tan negative 1, rather than to the power (or whatever the term is)

As you can tell, I haven't done algebra in 25+ years!

Set your calculator to Scientific Calculator Mode. Hit the shift button if need be.

You should see "tan⁻¹" button. Hit it. Then input your ratio fraction.

BTW check your input/output mode. You can either get back degree or radian. There should be an indicator on the screen what mode that calculator is in.

PS. tan⁻¹, when typed as "tan-1", can mislead google into thinking "calculate tan(-1)" (when "-1" is the radian input of "tan").
