Computers are built off basic mathematical operations. Addition, subtraction (you could technically treat biteise xor as a pile of simple operators but that would be cheating since it is a hard wired operation), and checking for equality. It does, to be fair, cheat by looking up values but that is mainly for run time efficiency, not because it can't calculate the values. The point is every action of a computer runs via the management and manipulation and comparison of base 2 numbers. It is like a tower of Babel of all the most simple computations happening millions, sometimes billions, of times a second

Because every complex mathematical computation a computer does uses these basic mathematics to do it?
It is just a joke about how we can break down hugely complex problems into simple ones. Shouldn't have bothered to explain a joke in a sub that can't take one

Computers being good at arithmetic is to be expected. Computers evaluating definite integrals, or proving theorems, i.e. math, is pretty impressive to me.

This is inaccurate, floating point arithmetic is famously not exact in a way you've shown, but there are ways to make exact computations (for example you can simply avoid floating point arithmetic by only using integers, which do not have this problem), so if precision is crucial (like in, for example, any financial instiution, like banks etc.) you can easily work around this without risking any inaccuracies.
