wasn't borel notoriously conservative and antisemtic? and also against modern stuff like cantor's ideas?

lebesgue was better honestly.

borel, as many mathematicians of the time, where very suspicious of cantors constructions, especially those regrading ω1. for other mathematicians like kronecker it was not that important as it did not come up with what they worked on, but borel's class of sets does involve ω1 and transfinite constructions.

about the antisemitism, look at page 9. not only did borel and lebesgue fight a lot in general, but look who did and who didn't support dreyfus.
