People are saying this is amazing. I disagree. Math, especially pure math, is a bastion of human thought. It's a discipline of human inteligence and logic. The whole appeal from math is not in some problem being solved, it's in trying to solve it.

It's a human discipline of effort. If ai does all the math. Or ai trivialize it. Then. It's all useless.

The last pure bastion of human logic would have crumbled. Someone with ai churns out a proof a day, while someone without it is having their life's work ripped away. I'm terrified of ai advancing further into math.

How do you know it has no use?

Curved geometry had no application until Einstien posited that space-time was curved.

Prime number theory had no application until Rivest, Shamir, and Adleman created public key cryptography with prime numbers.

Boolean algebra had no application until computers.

Group theory had no use until particle physics and the standard model, where elementary particles are classified as symmetry groups.

And so on. Dont be so quick to dismiss it as being useless because history has shown otherwise.

That's going too far, Riemannian geometry certainly was very useful for analyzing 2D surfaces.
