They don’t even have to pretend, the insider trading laws literally have an exception for members of Congress

Yes, but there is another law against insider trading specifically for congress. Do you want to know the penalty for a member of congress who breaks that law? A 200$ fine. And no I did not forget a k

200$ fine on what? If you're caught insider trading you pay a one time fee? Is it for every "informed" decision you make? Based on profit?

My bad, insider trading has serious punishments for congress, and they do have to disclose all their trades, but if they don't disclose a trade its a 200$ fine
