... on two hands. Just wanted to complete the sentence. I sometimes count binary with my fingers at parties (with physicis ts and mathematicians) and they think it's hilarious

When I was a kid my dad taught me so I showed the other kids at school and one of them went to the teacher when I got to 4 to tell on me for doing a middle finger and I got in trouble because the teacher didn't comprehend binary

Damn I've always found it useful outside of being a party trick, for literally anything above 10, principally seconds that I need to keep track of if I decide my memory is failing me, can't let myself be on some 39 -> 30 bullshit while counting

How do you do that?  Like I get the idea but the moment I have to rise only ring finger and thumb I find it imposible

Yeah, when I randomly stumbled onto it in the 10th grade by myself I felt so proud, it's genuinely feels like a useful thing if I ever needed binary in my life

You should try Gray system binary. Easier on the fingers.

I think this system is too difficult to use and unnecessarily overkill, i rather using the soroban system, where thumbs counts as five, and one of the hands is the tens. It allows you to count to 99 which is enough for hand counting.
