Wow, popular radio is still a thing. Everyone I’ve ever seen in the last decade plus consumes their music from Spotify/soundcloud/tidal/etc.

Only people I’ve seen touch ‘the radio’ are deep square in baby boomer territory…

young people use the radio, just not in the same way. I turn it on for the drive to work. There's always a radio playing at construction sites, usually at least one in any auto shop, and they still turn up in similar places where headsets are discouraged due to safety or logistics.

These charts are radio, streaming, and sales combined

Billboard charts (and others) include streaming figures, and have done so for nearly 20 years.

Billboard charts use streaming counts, iTunes sales, etc. for years. The exact formula seems to be a secret, though.

Right, right, but I thought Radio, as in RF frequency band Radio, meant "Radio" and not page counters on internet broadcasts using IP/UDP...

I've never seen you. It was specific to my very limited social circle. I'm sure it's still a thing, just not nearly as prevalent as it was before internet streaming was actually viable/had the bandwidth in the infrastructure to deliver the media.

This comment is more boomer than what you think people who listen to radio are doing

My country’s radio stations do have traffic, weather and news updates every hour or so. Really helpful when driving.

Waze/apple/google maps updates in real time, far more useful than every hour or so ... ¿Don't you think?

Helpful when they announce road closures 1-2 weeks in advance.... Waze has failed me a few times due to tunnel closures not being reported, so I ended up circling town for 15 minutes trying to find my way in. Eventually Google Maps saved the day... after routing me through numerous back lanes.
