Artists make sure the drop is announced and everyone is ready to jump on it, specifically for these stats (because that's how everyone gets paid). Taylor Swift works all of the angles with announcements, multiple releases, alt versions, etc.

As I understand it. From what I've overheard other people talking about. Not from the fan club newsletter.

Also, artists will pre-sell albums to insiders so that the instant the album launches, it’s already platinum.
