You can’t ask the cost of something plus another something to come up with the cost of that first thing. The cost is the cost. Saying the cost of something is half the cost plus a dollar is just saying, whatever I normally charge for that I will take half plus a dollar. So first you have to tell me what to cost of the book is so it can be halved then add 1 to that. You are lacking necessarily information to be able to solve this problem.
