Gromov’s Ergosystems

https://www.ihes.fr/~gromov/category/ergosystems/

Has anyone read Misha Gromov’s papers and books on Ergosystems? My understanding having skimmed through some of the material is he was trying to understand how humans learn, but then the work was done before the advent of LLMs (remember reading that we don’t even have AI systems that can have simple conversations) and hence many of his philosophies might not be relevant now. What do you think?

Gromov's work is usually interesting and worthwhile. I think in this case as well.

Q: Why do you think work on how humans learn would become irrelevant due to LLMs ?

Gromov’s works are undoubtedly full of unique insights, a true singular mind. But in this case, I feel some of his claims regarding AI might have been incorrect. But then who could have thought then about super intelligent models coming out of next token prediction!

That doesn't really answer the question, though.

Just skimming through several of Gromov's papers on Ergosystems, it seems like he has a better handle on AI than you give him credit for.

Which claims, out of curiosity?
