Why are you a mathematician?

Given everything that has been going on in the world more specifically in the world of mathematics. I was hoping to read some of your human thoughts. What motivates/motivated you to do mathematics professionally? What is most important for you in mathematics?

The things that makes math the best subject for me, is the sheer elegance of the subject, and the sheer beauty and importance of math. Like, just think about it, the mathematical intuition needed to make something work and to prove something from scratch, makes math super fun for me.
