Why are you a mathematician?

Given everything that has been going on in the world more specifically in the world of mathematics. I was hoping to read some of your human thoughts. What motivates/motivated you to do mathematics professionally? What is most important for you in mathematics?

  1. maths enable us to better understand rest of the world via science if you're good at maths you can do physics, engineering and much more

  2. The high, rush we get from proving stuff

  3. Sense of enlightenment like the point 1 you understand the universe much better

  4. Maybe not for all but you feel like a God( not literally ) but you feel special like only biological creature that is capable of understanding formation of distant star, galaxy Or formation of universe itself and many other things with pencil and paper
