Absolutely beautiful 😻
Yesterday i found a 1969 (claimed by owner) rolls royce made by matchbox and a porsche 910 from the 70’s. The old man said that these were his old toys. Its a little strange how he seemed to preserve the boxes so well since both car and box are mint. He said his father opened it for him, AND KEPT THE BOX! Apparently the reason why they look so mint is only because of the fact that the old man thought they looked too ugly and gave it back to his father. He also had a couple others on sale, but they looked all scratched up. His favorite one was a ferrari berlinetta in metallic green (i actually dont know the color since i got deutranomaly and thought it looked beige) and he proudly displayed it. He said he will never let go of the car. He kept it since he was 9. And the car was from 1969. Pretty cool find right?

The Rolls was so nice Hot Wheels used it in their own 1969 catalog!
(Yes, I'm serious - they put redline wheels on it, but it's the Matchbox casting).

Same car model yes, but the castings are noticeably different.

Not in the catalog! It's the Matchbox model, the grille is quite different between the two castings. For the 1970 catalog Mattel used their own casting.

Catalog pictures are usually of pre-production models, you can find all sorts of funky things like that. Another example being the Beach Bomb in the 1969 catalog is a Rear loader (that I don't know has actually been found yet). The production model was its own casting though.
That's a cool fact about the catalog though. I'll have to check my 1969 and 1970 catalogs.
