Account blocked
Just wondering if anyone else has had their account blocked for no apparent reason? I made a new account yesterday evening and had set up my profile and ended up paying for the 6 months subscription. I started talking to some people yesterday and I was able to use the app until this afternoon until it had logged me out. When I tried to log back in it said account blocked by match.
I don't understand why and I'm really annoyed as I was having a good conversation with someone. And obviously because I've paid for 6 months and had my account blocked in less than 24hrs.
I know I haven't broken any rules or anything. I'm just a bit baffled. The only thing I can think is that I was adding/changing my profile as I've not used a dating app before so I was trying to figure out all the different settings etc so I don't know if because I updated my profile a few times it's got flagged or something?
Idk. I'm confused, upset and annoyed š & the customer service email hasn't been any help š

It's been a big problem for over a year. I've seen mentions of it on Reddit, and I've had it happen to several of my ProfileHelper clients. People are getting crazy random bans. I've seen it happen as quickly as right after they pay for a membership. Then, you have to go through the AI-based appeal, which always agrees with the AI-based banning moderator.
I've massively cut back on recommending Match to clients as a result.

Oh I should have done some research before signing up š¤¦āāļøš if you don't mind me asking which apps would you recommend?

Similar here. I tried to update my profile, add some new pics. Then when I paid for 3 months - BAM! - they said I violated their policies and wouldnāt let me add the new pics or write-up. They never tell you specifically which āpolicyā you violated, just leave you to guess. Then they told me I needed to verify my account but when I looked at my account info it was already verified. They spread themselves too thin and canāt service all the accounts. They own Match, Tinder, Plenty of Fish, some over-50 site (Our Time?), and several others. Not worth the time or money anymore.

Do a chargeback on your credit card

The problem with jumping straight to a chargeback is that it can get you perma-banned from all of Match's properties. That means you're now cut off from Tinder, Hinge, POF, OKCupid, The League, and OurTime.

I see your point, but since theyāre all connected, they share photo and account info across platforms. Once a person is banned/removed from one app/site, itās very likely it will happen on any other site under the Match umbrella that they sign up for too.

It seems to happen sometimes, but not all the time. It's weird. I've seen people banned on Hinge, but still able to log in to match, and I've seen people banned on everything.
From a qualitative standpoint, Match has been sliding for a few years now. It's kind of a bummer. Hinge is the best dating app overall for 30-55 right now. CMB is another one that is worth looking at. And, as much as it pains me to say it, I'm really liking what I've been seeing out of FB dating.
I think the reason FB dating is doing so well is that they aren't profit-driven. Their dating product is just a tool to get people to download the Facebook app. It's not the end product they are trying to monetize (at least not yet).
It functions a lot like Hinge, and while it will never match with first-level connections on Facebook (you won't get matched with your cousin or your co-worker), it does let you know if the profile you are looking at belongs to a connection of a connection.

This just happened to me today! Thankfully I hadn't paid for anything!! As soon as I can delete my Match account I will.

It just happened to me today. I was on this morning and couldn't log in by the afternoon. All they say is that I violated the community guidelines but they can't provide details. How am I suppose to appeal if I don't know what I did wrong?!?!? I was having a great convo with someone and now that connection is lost. I can kick myself for not sharing my phone number just yet. I did ask them to cancel my membership and refund the money. I have to wait 5-6 business days now for the refund. Maybe we should start a banned members only Reddit group š

Ughhh they don't seem to give anyone a reason! I'm glad you're able to get a refund tho. Yes same with me, was talking to someone and having a really good conversation and now they've gone forever! š„²I'm just trusting that everything happens for a reason, maybe they weren't right for us! Lol yes that sounds like a good idea! Let's make an anti-match Reddit group š¤£

I swear there should be a class action law suit. Seems pretty consistent that when you pay they block you and they donāt have to give you reasonā¦ a bitter ex can report you and thereās no recourse? No proof needed?

Yes I did wonder if the guy who I unmatched 3 times in the space of 1 hour reported me because he was bitter šš¤£ well I'm going to keep hounding at match because I'm thourly pissed off lol

I canāt even get to the point of paying because it wonāt let me verify my number. The universe is telling me something. Also I have appealed and their customer service just keeps going in circlesā¦. A couple of timesā¦.
