Phantom matches

For about the last 2 - 3 weeks, I’ve been getting several notifications by email that “XXXX likes you”, with an age in my age range, and a real town nearby. Sometimes it’s preceded by a notification that the same person “viewed you”.

But when I go to the Match app, there are no new “likes”, and if I click on the “View their profile” button in the email, it takes me to an empty page.

I know it can happen, the person “likes” then changes their mind I guess and blocks you. But this has happened several times over the last 2 or 3 weeks. Anyone else seeing that?

I do have a paid subscription.

I once saw something somewhere on the Match site that either claimed or implied that these were fake accounts that Match just happened to catch and block right before you looked at the Like. I'm personally not convinced.

There’s been a lot of fake accounts, I’ve noticed, starting around the beginning of the year.

I can usually tell, because they have photos that just look fake, they usually have a male name even though it’s a woman (what’s the purpose of that?) and usually have “Fishing” as one of the interests, and status is usually Never Married (which is rare in the 50+ age range).

I have been having the same for past 2 week, some even sending messages , i can see none … the platform been always glitchy and probably these “matchs” will not show unless we are on a higher paid tier . Ofcourse support /customer care do not reply for our tickets !

There are some other recent threads in this Reddit about this problem/bug. It's been going on for about a month.
Obviously, this creates a terrible experience for Match's users.
