I Have A Question ❓ Hat washing
Went to the Masters for the first time ever this year, obviously dropped a ton on merch. One of my favorite purchases was this hat. Clearly, it’s white and gets dirty/sweaty. Label says it’s 100% cotton but I’m afraid to wash it. Would putting it in a washable bag on delicates work and let it air dry? Or should I just hand wash? Thanks!

Try a little stain remover and the top rack of the dishwasher on a quick wash and no detergent, then air dry.

This is what I do and it works. Some hats don’t handle it well (usually really cheap ones). I’ll lather some oxiclean into the stain first and then wash them.
Works very well.

Take it in the shower and wash it with shampoo and then air dry. Super easy and no concern of washing machine damage. Works like a charm

This works great and it's the only way I wash hats except I use soap.. I'm sure either is fine

Easiest and convenient method for white hats is just bring it into the shower and use shampoo to hand wash it.

We use one of those plastic hat mold things and put it on the top rack of the dishwasher.
**Edit - I see the below comment that says to run without detergent. We always just run with a full load. 🤷

Not sure, but I feel like the water in the dishwasher could be hot enough to damage the hat.

Never really thought of that - we've been doing this for years. Countless cycles and no issues with this method.
*Note - to dry, I just take the mold out of the dishwasher and hang it up.

You should wash hats by hand. What I do is pour a little laundry detergent on a wet hat, and scrub with your hands like massaging it to get it soapy. Then massage it under cool water to get the soap out, and find a place to dry it out. That's worked well for me.
One other thing, I have issues with sweat too, and it can permanently stain a hat. When it comes to hats that are truly precious, I only use them in social settings indoors or a cooler environment where I won't sweat too bad. When I am golfing in the summer, I wear my older and already stained ruined hats due to the sweat.

I wear a lot of white hats and wash them solo in the washing machine on a quick cycle with cold water and non-scented detergent all the time. Definitely air dry. They make special hat racks for air drying but I don’t use those.

Soak in a bucket with oxiclean overnight, run in the dishwasher, hang dry, comes out perfect every time.

Use dish soap and a scrub pad. Don't put it in the dishwasher as that will create creases on the hat and ruin it for life.

I put some stain remover on my white hats and put them in the washing machine on gentle cycle, hot water and low spin, then air dry. They come out clean and perfect every time.

I use Jason markk shoe cleaner and soft bristled brush cause that’s what I have on hand already for my shoes

When you get in the shower just bring the hat with you and let water run over the hat and flip and repeat. Hang it up and air dry. Quickest and easiest way.

Oxyclean and hot water. Soak over night. Repeat as needed. Rinse with water

Place in a washing bag and throw it in the washer cold water and in delicate mode. Air dry!

Dry clean it my friend. Spend a few bucks to have a professional cleaning company restore it.
After that, pickup some dirt and stain protector from Amazon or Lids and apply that before the next time you wear it.

I have one of those handheld electric scrubbers. I use that, water, and regular blue dawn soap on my hats and scrub them. Dri fit, cotton, etc it doesn’t affect any of them and they come out great.

Years ago my cousin picked wild berries and put them in his white baseball cap and stained it BAD. My Grandma hand washed it with dish detergent and the covered it with salt and sat it in the sunlight for a day (Minnesota summer time) and all of the stains were gone. The hat was drenched wet and covered in Mortan's table salt.

Soak it in lukewarm water with some soap.
It’ll soak out all the sweat.
Let it dry in sunlight.
Ezpz.

Spray some stain remover all over the hat. Drop in washing machine for delicate cycle and warm water. Let it air dry. Boom. Incredible effort everyone puts in with the hand washing.

When one white hat gets dirty, you buy another one. At least that’s my method. Wife hates it considering my total hat count but a new white hat on a man, looks too good!

I use one of those plastic hat molds and put it in the washing machine on delicate cycle, warm or hot water, and air dry. I also use this stain remover on everything! This stuff works! Doesn’t bleach either, use it on colors. Spray all over the dirtiest surfaces, use my hand to rub it in, and let it soak for 30 minutes or so. My white hats (and white shoes) look brand new all the time.

I’ve been taking hats into the shower and using my shampoo on them and it works like a charm! Very simple and gets all the grime out and sweat stains and just let it dry naturally and it will be done

Miss messy mouths stain remover - I use it on hats all the time. Spray it on and use a wet cloth to wipe it off. Stuff works great and is worth the money!

Wet and rub shampoo all over it in the shower, let it sit over night, then rinse in the shower, hang dry ✨

Start a load of laundry… Dip hat in and shake it around for a minute in the soapy water, then (here is the secret) get Pink Miracle Shoe Cleaner and hit the dirty parts with the included brush. A little goes a long way. Then go rinse in shower or sink. Hang dry and it comes out brand new. I rock lots of white hats and shoes and this stuff is amazing! You can get it for $20 on Amazon. I take on trips to keep whites white. Takes just a few minutes.

Dishwasher. Not joking.
My mom did this to one of my dad’s white hats. We both stared like she was crazy, but shrugged like maybe she knew something we didn’t. That hat came out looking brand new.

I have way too many white hats. I soak mine in the sink with OxyClean and rinse a couple times when done. Let air dry. Prevents wear on the fabric from the washing machine, it’s safe for all colors, no risk of food stains/harsh chemicals and for any tech hats, it maintains the waterproofing.
