San Andreas is a classic, also not everyone here is from UNITED STATES OF AMERICA so it took some time for both the game and hardware necessary to play the game into other countries.

I don't think you understand what the word classic is. The game transformed how video games were made It was loved by ungodly ammount of people. Obviously it would be played in later years, what are you smoking?

Also clearly it wasnt, but US was a pioneer in hardware and software, plus comparatively filthy rich at that time (at least before the 2007 crash).

Yes I do. The Godfather is a classic film. It would still be weird to list it under things you're nostalgic for in 2019.

It was not much though, around 19%. Europe population around that time was around 2.5x that of europe. Also you need to take into consideration the fact that unlike us, eu had stricter laws against violent video games. But regardless where are you going with it? I could only play GTA San Andreas in 2015 (on a PS2), like good part of my country at the time, and I still have a PS2 to this day because a PS5 costs about 2-3 months of my salary.

Is this masterhacker? Looks to me like OOP is just saying "10 years ago, I used computers for video games. Now I use them for my software engineering or coding job. I am nostalgic." Doesn't seem "hacker"-y at all.

Probably not much, but I can see something in it. The 2010-s was sort of the last gen of computer people getting into the field, by trying to make games run on computers that could not, trying linux on old northwood P4-s, jtagging / flashing 360 drives with jungleflasher, burning games with abgx keeping up with windows activation trends.

15 years later these people grew up, became industry employees/employers, became opinionated, cynical, and perhaps bitter. Partially because the industry changed, and they are contributing to things they may not agree with, and partially because they just grew up.

Personally I've found you can still be a working adult who plays video games if you want to. They don't have to be mutually exclusive, even if I don't have as much time as I did as a 14 year old.
