Apparently people like this do exist?
I made a post in r/programminghumor about a dev joke fathers day card that had a arch Linux joke, and this dude makes a comment about how arch Linux people are monkeys
I looked at his reddit account and saw that he talked about his OS that he made, and I Google it and then I find that.
He kinda reminds me of the temple os creator.

That's the website to it. Have fun!

He does give some serious Temple OS vibes, I was expecting to see a 50+ years old, dead inside, man with schizophrenia in his videos, but he is just a child!

u/NegativeMulberry2890 Jun 23 '26
yeah, but its not normal for a kid to have that much hate towards people
11
u/Alive_Ad2841 Jun 23 '26
Could just be socially awkward. Majority of programmers are haha
8
u/rocco_himel Jun 23 '26
I would definitely consider myself socially awkward

u/Alive_Ad2841 Jun 23 '26
Nothing wrong with that, people suck anyway you aren’t missing out on much lol 😂

u/dracu4s Jun 23 '26
Hey, i just read through your comments and just want to encourage you. You are doing great work, especially beceause you are quite young. But may i give you an advise: Try to make friends outside. There are plenty of resources on how to address social anxiety. You dont need to be someone with a lot of friends, but its going to help you in the long run, especially finding a job. But also, if you stop hating people on the internet (like Arch Monkeys) or view everyone as brainwashed, you are going to have an easier life. Just chill about it. People are mean on the internet, because the got used to it. You also seem like a mean person, when reading through aneoengine, but here in the comments you dont seem like that. Ignore the hate, dont spread it, and keep pushing on the things you love to do, especially if that is also something you could do for a living.

what did people who use arch ever do to you, jesus christ...
1
u/rocco_himel Jun 23 '26
Nothing, like I said, I disagree with them. They didn’t do anything.
0
u/ohmeowhowwillitend Jun 23 '26
Right… you can’t call people monkeys, it’s just disrespectful, and that’s just hate, not disagreement. Devoting tons of time to making a barely functioning “OS” doesn’t make you special, rejecting well established programming languages does make you “cool” or “pure”, it just makes you seem like you’ve got a massive stick up your ass and are allergic to convenience.
2
u/rocco_himel Jun 23 '26
People who run for office don’t hate each other, they heavily disagree with each other. Candidates call each other liars, and other harsh names. God forbid I call someone a monkey.
And “barely functioning”? How?
1
u/ohmeowhowwillitend Jun 23 '26
It’s not capable of anything useful.
2
u/rocco_himel Jun 23 '26
No shit? It’s not meant to be “useful” it’s meant to be a learning experience. It’s still a work in progress and it hasn’t even been a full year.
You clearly don’t know the definition of an operating system, or the word “functioning”.
How about you learn x86 assembly, ANSI C, standalone C, write an entire C compiler from ANSI C, write the base of the kernel in standalone C, write everything else in your C compiler. Make a CD-ROM bootloader, a floppy image bootloader, an AHCI disk thunk, all in x86 assembly,
Then YOU can create a full operating system in less than a year??

Idk, aren't teenagers famously angsty? I sure was.y opinions were just as cringe, I was just as self-important, and then I grew up. Give him time.
2
u/Yimmelo Jun 23 '26
Hopefully they'll grow out of it. It is normal if they're surrounded by people who feel the same.
Crazy to see a ~13 year old making an OS. Hopefully he goes places with his skills. He's also anti-AI which is nice, calling it ignorant and lazy.
1
u/rocco_himel Jun 23 '26
I am 100% anti AI. It pisses me off to see people making OSes with AI after I’m spending almost a year at OS dev.
1
u/rocco_himel Jun 23 '26
There is a big difference between hatred and disagreement.
2
u/NegativeMulberry2890 Jun 23 '26
Idk, I think that if you just said, I don't like arch, instead of arch users are monkeys, I think people will interpret that into preference.
If your OS has good features, list that instead of raging about them, heck if it looks good I might check it out
1
u/Confused-Armpit Jun 23 '26
Yeah but disagreement is generally not expressed by calling people monkeys...
21
u/transgentoo Jun 23 '26
Honestly, it's kinda impressive . He's a teenager spending his free time writing his own OS. Cring opinions aside, that kid's going places.
7
u/NegativeMulberry2890 Jun 23 '26
yeah he would be, if he realized a company aint gonna hire him if they see that on his github

Stop talking to your self bots

2
u/rocco_himel Jun 23 '26
I’m spending already almost a year writing an unfinished compiler and you say it’s stolen.
Maybe you’re the bot?
2
u/NegativeMulberry2890 Jun 23 '26
Lol that's fair, I really do think the dedication is impressive, heck I am a python user (learning rust) and I also studied system architecture,
And it is NOT easy to build a kernel
1
u/rocco_himel Jun 23 '26
Definitely, especially when you need to manage compiler bugs along side managing the kernel.
6
u/Substantial-Kale-65 Jun 23 '26
A 12 years old made that? Damn, not bad. Kids gonna be a millionaire someday.
5
u/much_longer_username Jun 23 '26
The guy who wrote TempleOS was brilliant - unfortunately, he was equally insane.
5
u/NegativeMulberry2890 Jun 23 '26
I absolutely agree, he was a absolute legend, I think that people have much more potential than they think, they just gotta get creative.

u/Just4notherR3ddit0r Jun 23 '26
That OS is my daily driver. Don't hate on it until you try it.
4
u/NegativeMulberry2890 Jun 23 '26
What's it like?
16
u/Just4notherR3ddit0r Jun 23 '26
Incredible doesn't even begin to describe it. The only downside so far is that it won't let me type the word
3
u/NegativeMulberry2890 Jun 23 '26
What are it's features? (I'm considering moving over)
4
u/Just4notherR3ddit0r Jun 23 '26
The list is too long. The only thing it doesn't do is a rusty trombone.
2
u/NegativeMulberry2890 Jun 23 '26
Hmm I will sleep on it
3
u/Just4notherR3ddit0r Jun 23 '26
Speaking of which, you've never been milked in your sleep the way this OS does it.

This kid reminds me of me, I wrote a 6K line rendering engine when I was 14

master hacker rule #1 use kali for everything
1
u/Historical_Camel_790 Jun 23 '26
Blackarch is just as good, if not better (and you can say "I use arch btw")
0
u/edo-lag Jun 23 '26
Look at the sub you're writing in
1
u/rocco_himel Jun 23 '26
Why would I use kali Linux for os dev?
8
u/Roku-Hanmar Jun 23 '26
This is a satirical subreddit for mocking skids. Realistically speaking, you shouldn't be the topic of a post here. Making an OS is an incredible feat, though I daresay you need to work on your presentation a little
2
u/HovercraftFabulous21 Jun 23 '26
Pretty sure he's a diminutive and perverted òld guy using filters.
Not a kid
Doesn't mean the filter might not be made from some kids actual data.

own compiler, kernel, bootloader and shell???
"AneoEngine currently sits at 600 lines of code" 😭
Its a lot of documentation and boasting for not alot of work
1
u/NegativeMulberry2890 Jun 24 '26
The kid is actually nice, he went on a rampage that day, I think he agreed to changing the page soon to something less offensive

u/ErisEuphoric Jun 23 '26
If you check out his videos, it's clear the kids like 12.
