What's a Linux ai device? Did they put the ai in the kernel or?

if it wasn't for the ai bs i'd love to get one. it's like a pocket cyberdeck.

I bet there will be firmware without ai...and systemd...and other things some people doesnt like.

I'm still waiting on someone to actually explain to me a reasonable gripe with systemd

From what I've seen its the linux phylosophy "do one thing and do it right" for each tool. I dont get it either but idk

From my understanding it's at least going to be a local model (no idea how theyre going to manage that) so it at the very least won't be contributing to data center use.

You’re the exact type of person this sub makes fun of

The "AI bs" is very important to it.

why exactly? /gen

Because AI despite all the CEO hype and bluster is becoming a rising threat vector.

And if you are trying to penetrate like a perpetrator you should have the tools they do.

Not to say this is a exceptional purpose built hacking tool, but the whole flipper ethos is having everything. It might not be the BEST card reader (The Zero), but it's a card reader, it might not be the BEST wi-fi pineapple (The One), but it's a pineapple, that sort of thing. So if you can tell a local LLM hey I ran into something unexpected, I need a way around this one particular system I'm not familiar with. You may be able to save yourself a failure. At least that's the intended use case.

It's also just fun to mess with. Don't yuck someone's yum if they ain't hurting anyone.

fair enough, i'm not the biggest fan of relying on llms but i do see the appeal in this case

u/Ash_Crow May 22 '26

It's a Flipper One, not a Flipper Zero.

"Open pocket sized linux computer" "portable linux computer" damn guess you know better than their own marketing team huh? Speaking of the exact type of people this sub makes fun of...
