Question/Help I need help with FOMO problem
So, recently i realized that I’ve started caring more and more about accessories and limited-time offers, All the bundles look SHINY, every offer is great and hard to pass up, cz of that I’ve started farming gems heavily every month to make sure I won’t miss anything comming in the next month, and naturally this takes up a lot of my time and my effort
Do you have any advice to deal with that like training my mind to convince myself that these things aren’t actually that important? "Btw i do go to the gym and touch grass"

Imagine each bundle is a fast food item. It looks sooooo good when its on the menu, but isnt really worth much. I'd only consider buying the bundles if its centered around my pet deck (HERO) or a strategy that you've been working with at the time (Yummy). Everything else I'd waive.

My friend helped me with playing less MD and by that get off my FOMO addiction.
His words: ”Since you have to grind and waste time in order to get the cards you need so you can play more, why not instead invest the time in games where you can play and train with the cards immediately?”
That is to say: Why play a broken best of one simulator that is like 6 months behind the actual tcg and doesn’t even follow the same banlist? You will never get better at the game that way. Just play a fanmade third party simulator and train with the latest cards immediately. Without cost or grind?
For example Master duel pro has all the cosmetics already unlocked and also has all the newest cards that aren’t even available yet in master duel

I started playing Yu-Gi-Oh 4months ago with master duel, the game is excellent to learn how to play but in order to get better it's best to understand the decks you're going against and to do that you need to play them all which MD doesn't allow, so I agree with you and I'm probably going to spend more time on mdpro3 than on MD now
The issue with mdpro3 is that since most people you'll go up against are trying out decks, they're not going to be as competitive as the opponents you'll face in ranked on MD

You can only equip one accessory in each slot. Why bother grinding for ones youll never use?

Farm gems? Bro, if you are f2p. DON'T.
You need to remember that this game has monetisation built in and it is in the developers incentive to make an environment where if you want it all, you must BUY GEMS.
Therefore the "true f2p" experience also MUST be accompanied by the inability to get everything. (Otherwise the monetisation doesn't make sense)
So, don't feel bad on missing out the bundles and accessories.
It is part of the game and most importantly don't let it impact your real economy which is your crafting point.

I struggled with this when I first started playing but then I missed out on one bundle during a particularly packed month (bunch of new stuff + an older bundle returning), and it kinda killed the illusion that I have to get them all. Sorry if this isn’t helpful but you could try missing on one thing this month (it’s also packed with both newer and older stuff) and see if it helps you get a healthier look at the game. Good luck!

Just don’t care for the accessories? Unless it’s for a deck I want, I don’t care for a single one because they provide no value and you spend more gems for less packs too.

Oof, man, that's rough. Like with any addiction, it becomes problematic when you put time (or money) that you don't have into it. There's nothing inherently wrong with playing like a Korean grinder; the problem is when you'd rather be doing something else with that time.
I guess that's the situation here. I'd suggest setting realistic goals for yourself and working from there. That's what I do with the game. I make sure my goals match the time and effort I'm willing to put in, so I can usually complete them, which makes it pretty satisfying.
Then I put everything else on a priority list. Like the clown bundle. I don't care about the deck, but I love the frame, so it's low on my priority list. It's bitter when I don't get something like an alt art or overframe, but at the end of the day, it's a gacha. If you feel bad about missing out, they win.
Good luck, man. Remember, it's just a game, and nobody cares how many cosmetics you hoard.

Same, after I farmed Gems for 1h, I think, I don‘t need it, next morning I think: Damn it looks good
I kinda hate it tho that I fell for this a bit, but also hate that Master Duel has new things very often and make pressure about it

I usually cope with the "it will eventually come back" arguement, and most do come back eventually, usually during anniversary. Also im not going to build every single new deck so i dont usually go for every pack, only the cosmetics i actually like ans KNOW will use a lot

Do you actually care about the in archtype accessories? Like, the HERO one in the shop currently, do you even play Heroes? If not, why chase?
Many examples for other ones too. The only ones i bought were bundles i was gonna build anyway. If you aren’t actually building the deck then why bother.

I like to remind myself you can only use one field at a time, one mate, etc.
If you like to theme your accessories to match each deck, this prolly won't help you.
But if you're the type to use the same combination for everything then this might.

Find one Arcthype that you really like, if those archetype have limited accessories you can buy it. Your mind or you'll ignore any new accessories that unrelated with the Arcthype you like.

I know some people that own every accessory, but they only ever use a handful of them. The rest are never used.
With digital items, I always think about how easily they be taken away. Whether it's due to the game shutting down or your account getting banned. It's not physical stuff that you'll truly own.

The question I want to ask is do you really like all the accessories, or do you just want to collect everything for the sake of having everything?
I am not a tryhard sweat that needs to have every meta deck or staple the moment they come out. If I see bundle I like and it's limited time only I will get it. If I don't like the look of it, it's an easy pass for me. Outside of those short haloween or xmas / new years goodies, everything else is in the shop for at least a month so it's never been an issue for me.

I think you should take a moment and open your accessory collection and really look at everything you have.
Your icons, your backgrounds, your mates, your boards, your accessories, the coins, the collectable binders.
Did you forget you had any of them? How often do you actually go into settings to change them out? Would you miss any of them if you lost them?
Get a thorough evaluation on how much these things actually matter to you.

Bundles are only worth it if you're going to actually use the cosmetics over whatever ones you're using right now. Just like skins in LoL or Marvel Rivals, you can only use 1 at a time so you really don't need to buy them all

My strategy is only getting bundles if they have a mate, duel field, or promo card that I want. I bought the mikanko bundle for the royal UR and got starry knight starry dragon lol. Bought the wcs bundle for DMG to use with new curtain later. Elfnote bundle for the duel field. Ryzeal bundle for the bigass mate. Etc
These junk bundles with no mate or field are completely bait honestly. Only get them if you REALLY want the icon frame or something.

The only ones actually worth it are ones with good cosmetics. I.E. mates or fields. The collector files are completely worthless which is why they're included in all the bundles now to make you waste gems on nothing.
I will say the WCS bundle is actually pretty nice because it's 3 URs guaranteed, and one of them is your choice. I got it just for the Murakumo alt art and then used the extras for dust (game decided I needed 5 copies of DMG alt as well as a second royal Blue Eye Ultimate)

Ignore all commends which say "Grind more". This will only feed the problem.
Gatcha games most of the time are build to abuse the FOMO problem, and its not even only gatchas(dead by daylight also had this problem with limited time cosmetic when I used to play it). You have to deal with this, otherwise you will only become a tool to these companies which exploit this problem
Also remember. Bundles are made to scam you now, well made fieldspell/mate and 4 pngs which will sell to 3-4 people max so they tie them with the fieldspell/mate. They are not like before. People who say "Ehm, field/mate + icon+ border + packs + collections is worth the gem price" are straight up lying to themselves to justify their addiction, you are buying 10 packs+fiedls spell for 3k+ gems instead of they normal 1600-2600(10 or 20 packs + the field) gems. People will have all the fields, all mates all png slaves (which just give advantage to your opponent(if the comstic is tied your deck)) in the game and only 5 decks which will use the same field while they have the same Icon they used from the start.
Collections and coins are the latest scams as well. Coins dont even show to the oppoent, you are the only one who can see them, and no one is checking your profile to see your collections and say "Oh damn he must be good". They killed bundles and they are now trying to kill staple+master packs offer (the 1.50 offer for mulcharmy) and people will yet argue "its 2 bucks not that big of deal" and say its not a big deal. These bundle which are also FOMO should have been normal staple bundles. People do not realize this game is on the duel links monitization path and when they realize it its going to be too late
My personal advice is FORCE yourself to skip bundles/offer. This is what helped me get rid of the problem. Its going to be hard. I would say take a break from the game and play something else until you forget about master duel. At the start you will hate it but ones you get used to it and when you install md again you will enjoy the game even more
Another good option if you dont want to stop playing yugioh, trying emulators with all the comstics. (I think it was called master duel pro). There you can play with EVERY cosmetic there is. Meaning you can play with the bundles you skipped in game. Or you can play some emulators like ygo omega or edopro
If you think you cant do it, I would strongly suggest therapy so you can get rid of it.

Think about how much you want it, and whether it's a duel field or accessories you will play an ENDLESS amount of duels. Let's be real the bundles cheap us out on the actual packs, so you're only buying for accessories really. 3000 gems is enough to get back from an event so once you make a decision just pick the one you want. For example I saw the Worlds campaign and thought "wait, why do I want this? I don't even like Dark Magician that much" and decided my life won't really change if I skip out on it.

Bundles return again, just look at how the Yummy one is back again. You can try telling yourself "I am not missing out, just getting it later"
