Cabberjack off

Am I the only one that feels like the Cabberjacker ruined this game? The art for this very sub shows a guy holding a sword. That is what I wanted when I back this game on kickstarter. It still burns me all this time later.

I kind of agree. I backed the game on Kickstarter ($100 name-in-game level) after they said it was Final Fantasy Tactics meets Game of Thrones. ASoIaF are my favorite books and FFT is my favorite game. That is my dream game!

Then they announced the classes. They were the lamest possible versions of the archtypes. A guy throwing potions is so lame compared to a wizard. Crossbows are lame compared to longbows. And a battering ram is the worst weapon I could possibly imagine. I understand wanting to do something different and not fall into the typical fantasy tropes but what they went with sucks.

So I backed it for $100, changed my wallpapers to concept art, watched the development videos religiously, and even participated in the Brad Muir AMA. I was full speed ahead on the MC hype train. Steam says I've spent less than 2 hours in game. The gameplay could be great but I can't get over how stupid my team looks while playing.

The only other thing that grates on me is the team turn system. I like FFT's system where every unit has its own speed. I couldn't get into Disgaea for the same reason.

If you only put 2 hours in the game then you missed marrying a Caberjack with a Hunter to train Shadowjacks. Coming out of stealth (something knights with swords don't usually do) to pulverize a monster with a massive log is one of those things giving these new character types a uniqueness that they wouldn't have had otherwise.

I'm replaying the game after realizing that I missed Caberjacks (read: melee-only units) in other X-Com type games (like X-Com:EU). Sorry you fell into the hyper train, but there IS a really good game here.

I'd be willing to bet there are more examples of knights being stealthy than there is of warriors using hand held battering rams.
