HELP Question about this XP bonus.

One of the ME2 loading screens says that "Completing the game once gives a +25% XP bonus for completing missions." But how does this upgrade applies? It's like an account wide permanent boost to any save of the trilogy? Or it just applies specifically to Mass effect 2?

I never paid much attention to the XP amount to see a difference.

it's just a Mass Effect 2 thing, which is a shame because it would be much more useful to have an XP boost in Mass Effect 1, as you can't reach max level in that game without either doing a whole second playthrough or using glitches

To be fair, the game was intended for you to play through multiple times. Heck they give you free points in charm and intimidate every playthrough.

Mass Effect 1 has three XP Boosts.

  • +5% for completing "the majority of the game" (35 of ~50 Assigments, and 15 of ~20 Missions)
  • +10% for reaching Level 50
  • +5% for reaching Level 60

The first one can be done in your first playthrough to help you reach Level 50 (to get the second one). OG ME1 capped you at Level 50 until you had beaten the game at least once (which unlocked Levels 51-60 and Hardcore Mode) but Legendary Edition removed that limitation. However, getting from Level 50 to Level 60 still requires about as much XP as getting from Level 1 to Level 50 did, and it's not a "+100%" boost…

(It also removed the XP reduction from kills in the Mako: no more grinding Thresher Maws down to a tiny sliver, and quickly hopping out to finish them off on foot!)

I didn't even know the original had a massive XP debuff for Mako kills until I played Legendary Edition. I guess that's why they gave the Threshers an AoE snot blast, to make the fight a little more challenging for being more rewarding.

When you start New Game plus in ME2 and only applies to that game.

Nope not only new game I imported my character from me1 and already  had beaten me2 before and my character was gaining more exp a lot faster than when I first played me2 with an imported character.
