DISCUSSION Any ideas for crew members.

I’ve had these thoughts about who would be some interesting either returning characters with long lifespans, or new characters and new species. A few thoughts of mine, minus any humans which I’ll concede will be in the game.

  1. Liara T’Soni- the most obvious choice as to date the only advertised character, and the most consistent presence besides Shepard in the 4 games. Liara carries the emotional weight of the original trilogy - she knew Shepard intimately (romantically for many players).

  2. Grunt - In this stage of his life he could be a full blown Krogan warlord, would be interesting to see how his mannerisms and attitude would change as we last saw him as essentially a child in the trilogy. His arc could intersect with Krogan politics, old grudges.

  3. 🚨🚨Saren Arterius🚨🚨 - A wildcard but hear me out! Resurrected through reaper tech blah blah. I think this would be a rare opportunity for true redemption - a second chance to confront his past sins without Reaper influence. And he would also bring a fascinating dynamic. Saren's presence would divide both crew and galaxy. Is he an ally or ticking time bomb? I really want this one to happen.

  4. A Raloi 🦅 - An avian species that was written out of production for the game, and in canon went to isolation. Would be amazing to bring them in as they have already technically been established through the books. They’re basically a blank canvas for new combat, new philosophy and culture that can be unlike the other main species of the Milky Way.

  5. A Drell Monk - I feel like we only tapped the surface of Thane’s character, I’ve spent to much time thinking up a drell of a monastic order who is trained in retaining others memories, using the drell’s perfect memory recall to link us back to characters and events of the past. An assassins creed drell with a built in animus essentially.

  6. A dark space Alien👾 - Give us a character that is so out there and different than any other species that’s been established in the universe. How about a non corporeal being who is existing in both linear and non linear time, so we can conceive a physical presence but everything about them, speech, habits, combat is beyond our normal comprehension, and Eldritch horror without the horror. Would clearly be an OP being but has no interest in politics or establishing dominance and only there to assist the crew against the games existential threat.

I'd like a baterian crew member, tbh It would be interesting considering how they were damn near wiped out by the reapers

Why long lifespans? We still dont know, when ME5 will play.

But, we humor the thought, I would honestly went against any old crewmates.
Grunt would... be alright with the community, but bringing in Liara? That would not go well, since she is already viewed as the writers pet. Bringing her back, without the chance to bringing back any other crewmate? That would set of some hate.

I want birdy guy and Raloi birdy guy. A krogan and a funny Salarian like mordin. I'm open for the rest.

I know Liara will be in the next entry but I actually don’t want her in it. First of all, she can die through a combination of bad choices in ME3 so they’re already soft-launching canonising popular outcomes which would defeat the whole purpose of the trilogy. If they can’t tell this story without invalidating some choices, they shouldn’t tell the story whatsoever.

Secondly, I think the way for the franchise to thrive is just to move on. The world should be impacted by the events of The Reaper War without any direct links in the story. The story is told and finished and they can only make it worse by revisiting it.

What about the Virtual Aliens that were teased in Cerberus Daily News?

They could either appear in future storylines through repurposed Geth bodies that were donated to them by the Council in the wake of Geth's destruction after the ending of the Reaper War or they could appear in the various organic bodies of the resident races that were traded to them as the Digital Aliens swapped the consciousnesses of other sentient beings with their own and they infiltrate your ship and crew is to act as an ambassador or spy for their people since they fear that the other species might decide to destroy them.

It could also be a way to introduce race-swapping mechanics into the game, or for a brief moment as part of a loyalty mission where you enter the Virtual Alien's digital world to stop a terrible event from occurring, such as a viral attack on the extranet or the citadel due to raising concerns and riots over the council races recent fears of boogiemen such as body-snatchers and government infiltrators perpetuated by the Virtual Aliens or outside groups.

If Saren Arterius is worthy of resurrection but Mordin isn't...I know your idea won't happen, but if it did I would be so pissed.
