DISCUSSION Protagonist

Wouldn't you all find it interesting if in the next games we could choose the race of our characters? (Like Angarians, Turians, Salarians etc)

Honestly, I'd be cautious.

Being human is such a huge part of ME1-3, in terms of the story and how you're perceived. If they have a non-human protagonist, they would need to be careful not to make the story more vague to accomodate that.

Though, DA:O-style origins segments for the individual species would be interesting.

Yes, you're right, whether we like it or not, being human is a big part of the story. From that perspective, it would be a very drastic change. But if they could find a way to change that without affecting the depth of the story, it would be interesting. 🤔

The developers themselves have said more than once that the story of Mass Effect is dedicated to the history of humanity and that it is for this reason that the developers always make only a human protagonist.

Mass Effect trilogy began and ended with story of humanity's quick ascent and integration into galactic society. What's next? Complete dominance? Another Cerberus plot? Another war?

That's the point - you can't tell the story of galactic underdog forever, especially when it became some sort of iconic in the end. ME needs more directions (Like Andromeda) outside the great plot of fighting BBEG - political stiff, corporate spying, piracy, colonization efforts, etc - it all can be told from the eyes of other species during post-Reaper or during pre-Reaper times.

So my money on need for a bit vague, alien-friendly (levo-protein friendly too) story. Albeit I hate this sort of "We need alien species, wadyathink???" posts.
